I really wish that 2nd pic would just disappear off the internet…
That fish was certified at the Bluffs and it came from the Mississippi River, just up stream of Red Wing.
It was thought to have been hatched in the brackish water of the Mississippi were it dumps into the Gulf of Mexico. This contributed to it’s size. It was swallowed whole by a bull shark that swam up to MN/WI and regurgitated alive to swim and be caught at the mouth of Hay Creek on a Stewart Pro Blue Ring Worm using a 1/4 oz Sour Apple jig head fished vertically.
I know the angler personally. Not much more info is known as he only speaks Swedish.

That’s the best way to make me question the size of a fish

Not only that but his hands are not that far apart…..I’d say it’s pushing 26″ at max (1st pic)

I disagree. The hands of an adult male held the way they are held in that photo are 4 – 4.5 inches across the fingers tips.
That’s a BIG fish.

..If you know how to take pic. you dont need long arms. ,,..rrr
Both those pics have been around for awhile. Pretty much everyone knows that they were both caught through the ice on Pepin, in the same hole that this shark was caught in. Heck of a day to have been on Pepin. Thank god we all have access to digital photos, since they can’t be shopped

Randy, ummmm… check your avatar. It looks like you’re doing pushups off a wall while holding two walleyes.

..Yup. But thats on stage and I am NOT takeing the PIC. ……..rrr
I’m with James on this one. Although the guy is holding that fish way out, it is a long one. I’ll say it is over 24″, but 31″, I have no idea. I am absolutely horrible at eyeballing lengths and distances.
Still haven’t figured out how Randy won that tourny with 18 inch walleyes.
Must have been the way he cleans up on aisle #2.

It was isle #3.
To me it is a nice walleye(pic on the left)… but look at the relationship of the Walleye’s head to his…the walleye’s head is much larger than the anglers head, telling me that the fish is considerably closer to the lens.
Not a big deal anyway….
The fish in the first photo isn’t folling me any. That truly is a 31″ fish. I always look at the size of the fins in relationship to the hands of the angler. Those fins are truly huge!
That second one is pretty sweet too. That’s actually a buddy of mine who caught that at the Coon Rapids Dam. Its actually a sauger. Note the missing white tip on the tail.

I will say that 1st one looks like it “could” be photoshopped. Something is telling my eyes that it isn’t right. Maybe the color compared to the rest of the photo or how it seems to be more in focus. Not saying it is, just saying it might.
All the guys that can’t catch a fish say they are photoshopped.

In that case, photoshop for sure
First one is definitely a big fish. I feel like I’ve seen that picture before, too.

I certainly can’t catch one sitting on IDO at work pretending I am working.

You’re ready to call it a day too, huh?
I was ready at 9am. I came in early yesterday with the intention of leaving early. Didn’t work out. So guess what. I am leaving now dang gummit.
Go home and eat, run to get a couple small slender spoons, go to bed, get up early and FISH FISH FISH.
Picture one looks an aweful lot like the mouth of Joe Creek Kooty. I agree it is totally fake. Lake Oahe doesn’t kick out fish this big, there is no reason for anyone reading this post to make a trip there

That’s a BIG fish.
James remember you are a big guy, my fingers placed just like the pic, are 3″, pinky, ring, and middle finger. I’m 5’11 190 so I’m about average.
Now his finger spread on the sreen measures 3/8″ and if that equals 3″ then each 1/8″ eaquals 1″. That fish measures about 4″ and that would equal out to about 32″.
Now measuring a picture is not exact but it maybe pretty close to the 31″ mark.
