A couple of weekends ago, while pulling the sled with all of the gear off of the lake, I thought I was having a heart attack. I put a post in the Ice fishing forum, looking for an idea to make it easier to pull that tank around. Thank you for the Idea’s by the way!!! The sled is much easier to pull around now.

Any way, the FW and I were out again this weekend, and as it started getting dark we fired up the lantern. Keep in mind the Sunflower heater had been running all day as well. ( The FW is a bit of a freeze baby) Some time had passed with the lantern and sunflower running when the FW decided it was time for a smoke. She grabbed her lighter and it would not light, so figuring it was out of fluid, i grabbed my torch, and to my surprise it would not light either. I pulled the window down and stuck the torch outside, and it lit on the first click.

I would never in a million years thought that the Eskimo Quickflip 3 would or could seal up that tight.

Just wanted to pass this along, so someone isn’t found dead in there fish house. Be safe and happy fishing.

Thanks for the warning and glad to hear this story did not end with on a sad note for you or your FW.

I take the kids a lot and switched over to the Mr. Buddy and two of the selling points for me was the low Oxygen auto shut off and the tip over shut off.

    Stay safe out there!

That could have been a long nap for the both of you Troy.

One of the few times I’m glad a person smokes.

Yeah, me too, Now we keep at least one window open and I have her check her lighter every 5 minutes or so.

I can sense that situation pretty easily. I get a feeling behind my eyes. Keep them vents open on the shacks and if you feel light headed at all get to air.

I always fish with the door at least 50% open, never seal the flaps. I guess I use my shelter for a a glorified wind break and the heater to keep hands warm, but I am usually quite comfortable no matter what the temp. Glad you are OK!!

When gas burning devices burn they normally produce little CO, when they start reburning the air in a enclosed space they start making CO.
If you depend on your senses to determine whether your ok or not, you are by far a braver man than I.

There is a reason they call CO the silent killer.
