Question for you walleye tip up guys out there. New to the tip up scene this year and have not had the best of luck. Have a lake close to the house with a mean depth of 13′, lake also has some good size 4′-5′ flats with scattered weeds that we have tryed. Some deep water in areas but not much luck there. Any ideas ? Thanks, Ol getcher

Fish move deeper this time of year. Clear water lakes fish good at night and darker lakes better during the day. Both fish good right at sunrise/sunset. I have found that deeper and clearer lakes typically have a better bite in mid/late winter when other lakes slow down. Keep soaking tip-ups in new areas a foot off the bottom and spread them out until you find them. Not sure if that helps at all…
