Ron Weltzin, friend and fellow IDOer, could use a little help here. He is in the hospital from a heart attack he suffered on Tuesday.

Ron emailed me last night and all he knew was that there was some damage and that he’ll be in the hospital at least until Sunday.

I plan to try to talk with his wife today to find out any more.

Keep your chin up Ron….these things can be beat.

Prayers for you Ron, and that the doctors diagnosis and treatment would be guided by the Lord. Strength and peace to you and your family in this journey.

I have an up-date on Ron’s issues and the report is not bad. He was released from the hospital late yesterday and is at home getting well again.

Ron definitely had a heart attack and it affected a lower portion of the heart leaving it about 20% damaged. The cardiologist has indicated that with proper life-style changes and some after care management he can expect to see some significant healing but that the heart will not ever get back to what it was. They also found a blockage and installed a stent to remedy that problem.

On a posititive note, Ron was told that if he was going to have a heart attack, this was the kind to have and he did get in right away for treatment and diagnosis so things were difinitely on his side.

I just spent about 10 minutes on the phone with him. He can’t do visitors yet as he is absolutely bushed from all of this and his doc says rest right now is imperative. In spite of his health issues he is up-beat and he asked that I tell all of you “Thank You” for the prayers and the thoughts while he and his family have dealt with this.

Ron is a super guy and has a wealth of panfishing tricks that could not be written in a single book. Maybe now he can be persuaded to do some writing. lol Just hearing him laugh a little while we talked helped make me think he’s going to do ok.

Gentlemen, thank you all for the warm wishes and encouraging messages.
Tom did an excellent job summing it up. Couldn’t have described it any better.
Now it is just a matter of time/rest. I have total confidence in my doctors and will try and comply with their recommendations, however, old dogs are stubborn.
Thank heavens for sites like this to occupy the time and get my mind off things.
    You all stay healthy.
