My Buddy Beau

For the past nine years I have had a hood ornament on my boat. The faster the boat went the more Beau would encroach the very tip of the boat. Although there were many times I thought for sure he would fall off, he did not. Until yesterday after a walk three houses from home. At 12 1/2 years his heart quit beating. You will not soon be forgoten. He loved the water, the field and most of all going fast in the boat. Everybody always asked “how old is your puppy?” When you said 12, people were shocked.

Sorry to hear the bad news about Beau. He was a good looking fellow for sure.

    Was he a yellow lab?

I hope my next dog goes that way instead of the vet doing it. Sorry for your loss.

I have a chocolate with the exact same attitude in the fishing boat – up front and on the edge! He is 10 now and I am dreading the day I have to post his passing.

It is incredably tough losing a friend such as Beau. Some people say “it’s only a dog”. I say, “dogs are people too”.

    Best wishes.

Sorry for your loss – regardless of how old, it’s always too soon. Take comfort that the memories will always be there and from time to time your mind will be triggered back to thought of a great time or something special that the two of you shared!

Once the timing is right, replace Beau with two – that’s what our family did to replace Payton.

Thank you for the support. I agree with you all. A dog becomes more than a dog. They become dear friends. It is going to feel weird driving the boat and being able to See everything.

    Sorry for your loss.

Just this side of Heaven is a place called the Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food and water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.

The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing: they miss someone very special to them who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. The bright eyes are intent; the eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to break away from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster. YOU have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together. . .
