i quit about six months ago and can tell you the first week sucks the big one. Once the physical sickness goes away its just a battle with your mind. You can do it! Its been the best thing ive ever done. no more being in the shack or boat and not having chew so u gotta go back!
January 14, 2012 at 10:44 pm #1027968Congratulations!!!! After 30 years I quit on August 9, 2008. It can be difficult in the early stages, but the half life of nicotine is short. If you need someone to talk to, pm me or give me a call at 605-553-2786. I am proud of your three weeks, keep it up during the challenging road ahead. It will get much easier very soon.

Brandon, SDJanuary 14, 2012 at 10:44 pm #1027969I chew about 20 years. My Doc prescribed a drug called “Buperion” phonetic. You can chew when you start taking the drug. My experience is about 5 to 7days I went to take pinch after supper and found I didn’t need to. The drug is used for tobacco cessation and depression. It worked for me. Good luck!
January 14, 2012 at 11:36 pm #1027974All my buddies chewed seeds like they were going out of style. Good luck to ya!
January 15, 2012 at 12:09 am #1027978My last one was almost two months ago. Not gonna lie, I still want one once in a while….but it is a lot easier than it was in the beginning. I used the nicorette gum the first few weeks and it made it bearable. Good luck!

finmanPosts: 277January 15, 2012 at 1:51 am #10279963 years off the Cope for me. Nicotine lozenges worked for me, the gum gave me a sore jaw and an upset stomach. The craving is still there- as bad as day one, I don’t think it will ever go away. But then I look at my two beautiful children and remember that I didn’t quit for myself.
You can do it- just one day at a time. Good luck
January 15, 2012 at 2:30 am #1028013Spicey jerkey chew red can. Park it in lip eventually u won’t crave a chew I quit for a year but had a stressful situation started chewing again but haven’t decided to quit yet
January 15, 2012 at 3:16 am #1028021Way to go. My new years resolution is to quit so far I’ve gone 2 days of the year without and I agree seeds are the best. I quit cold turkey when my daughter was born for 7 mOnths and I started again and can’t quite seem to get over the urges. I remember the first two weeks being the hardest though. Good luck bud and stay strong. Help inspire me!
January 15, 2012 at 11:11 am #1028035Day 4. Still sucks. Haven’t caved yet. Physically feel fine, mentally not so much.
January 15, 2012 at 11:32 am #1028036Good luck first two weeks just about killed me but I was chewing and smoking at the same time.Alot of patients, water and chewing gum will help

Same here- you won’t find me too far from a toothpick either!
January 16, 2012 at 12:12 pm #1028341Day 5. A friend gave me a niccotine lozenge, oddly enough my head wad spinning after 10 minutes and now I feel like crap. They work!
January 16, 2012 at 12:17 pm #1028343Never chewed, but have quit smoking so I know what your going through.
Take one day at a time, seeds, gum and suckers worked for some of my friends that quit chewing.
Wishing you the best of luck Brian

January 16, 2012 at 12:25 pm #1028346Get the 2 mg ones. They won’t be as hickupy.
The only bad thing about those is that I quit smoking at the same time slider did, but now when I run out of lozenges, it’s the same as being down to your last pinch or smoke.
I don’t wheeze at night but I’m still spending $30. a week needlessly.
