New Year, New Boat!

  • #1275261

    Hey Everyone,

Thought I would share a pic of the new boat that I picked up this week. Its a 2011 Lund Pro Guide 2010 W/175HP Verado XL and a 101 lb Vantage. I’ve been a wheel boat guy my whole life, and this is my first experience with owning and operating a big tiller.

Not exactly what I was planning on purchasing, as I had my heart set on a Skeeter MX, but it was a sweet deal that I couldn’t pass up so she came home with me. Either way, I’m very happy with it and excited to see how it is for fishability.

Now the fun begins, trying to figure out how to rig the boat to my liking and most importantly, learning how to fish out of a tiller!

    Justin –

I’ve never had a boat that wasn’t a tiller. The control and space is awesome. That rig is a beast that will fly! Riggin’ it will be a blast!

    Nice boat Justin!

    Glad you guys like it.

I wasn’t sure about a tiller at first, but it’s really growing on me quickly. Being a rigger at heart, I’m always looking for precise boat control and this setup just may do it. I figured that once I place a 101 lb Terrova w/ipilot on the bow, it should provide me the versatility I need for all fishing applications.

I’m also curious as to what I’ll be able to get out of her for speed. I’m hoping for 52 MPH after some custom prop work and a few other mods, so we’ll see.

Save some cash for new reels Justin! I hear the fish you’ve been catching have been some screamers!

    Very nice boat!

No not yet…I’m dying to get it out on the River but i’ve been concentrated on selling the old boat to pay for this new one.

Are you referring to your kitty cats I accidentally found yesterday? I need you to use your cat whisperer skills and tell them to quit wintering so close to the hot sauger holes.

I’m not sure what your top end would be. You did not tell us the length of your rig and seeing a tandem trailer, I’m thinking a 20ft something.

    I have a 1999 “1950 Tyee” with a 350 V-8, 260hp I/O that will go 52 gps speed with a 19pitch SS “High 5” by Mercury.

However using a pro v as the boat in a tiller, I got to believe you will absolutely love the openness of the boat to fish out of!
