I want to cut some plexi-glass to install dividers in a 3″ deep plastic storage container.

I can cut the strips needed but what is the best way to notch the strips so they inter lock thus making the dividers?

    All ideas appreciated

Do you have access to a router table?

What thickness is the plex? I’ve ran the thicker stuff (3/8″) across my table saw with a dado blade. Worked great on cutting the dadoes, but made a mess with the melted plastic. FYI – If you do that method, use a carbide tip blades and NO CHIPPERS. The chippers will destroy the plexiglass. I learned the hardway. Tried my router, but the rpms were too high and melted into the plex too fast.

once you’ve ripped your plexiglass to size, determine where they intersect and use your table saw to dado out the appropriate thickness of slots. A router table will work, but plexiglass is REALLY brittle and can shatter from a router bit.

What Randy said. Test the depth on a piece of scrap. I would pass on the dado and just make multiple passes with a 40, 60, or 80 tooth blade to achieve the width of groove you need.

What he said, use a plywood blade, no need to buy an expensive carbide fine toothed blade, push it through fairly slow.

The best way would be to find a place with a CNC Laser.

But a table saw will work in a pinch.
