Hamby’s Keel Guard

My Hamby’s Keel Guard has failed and I need to remove it from my boat. It seems Hamby’s doesn’t want to stand behind it’s “lifetime” warranty. For what I originally paid to get their supposedly premium product, I would expect more. Does anybody have any experience / tips for the removal. Also, I am looking to replace this with a different brand – Any suggestions?

    Thanks

Can you elaborate or describe how the keel guard failed?

I am guessing that it’s falling off. I am shocked that they wouldn’t stand be hind it even though it was probably not a faulty keel guard but just not installed properly. One needs to lightly sand off the gel coat and then clean with alcohol before installing. Also if the hull isn’t warm it never adheres right.

If you are the original purchaser I would be talking with your dealer.

As far as removing it I would just rip it off and then buy an adhesive remover disk. Its like an eraser that attaches to a drill. It will rub it right off, then get some adhesive remover spray and clean up the rest.

I will echo with what Corey said. If it was an install issue I would contact your dealer and talk with them. If its a product itself issue than I would go straight to hamby’s.
There is a lot of prep to installing one and if one step gets missed they wont last very long.

Any more details of how it failed? If I know a little more info, I am more than willing to get a hold of my contact at hamby’s and see what he can do.
