Wendy and I went out to lunch at the Classic Cadillac Diner just a bit from Centerville. On our way we passed a lake that was across from the Waterworks bar. There I saw the craziest thing. These folks were in their boat fishing and not too far from them were some folks in their ice houses and the topping on the cake (to me at least) were these guys ICE FISHING . I mean STANDING on the Ice. These guys or gals were no more than a football field from the folks in the boats. Am I crazy or are they. Wil

I’ve seen guys standing on the ice right next to open water on the Mississippi using 6′ plus rods to fish open water. Those guys are absolutely insane. Not my cup of tea

Drove down from Mille Lacs this afternoon…out about 1/2 mile from shore is a hundred yard open water…bee-u-t-i-full BLUE shimmering diamonds open water…people were in portable shacks ON THE OTHER SIDE of the open water from shore. How does that work???? Do they put outboards on Otter’s now???? Never seen such a sight in 47 years…my wife said, “Oh, that doesn’t seem safe.”

Hehe you guys probably think I’m insane then. I’ll post a couple pics when I get home from yesterday when I was out on Mille lacs. We were fishen maybe 140 ft from the wide open lake. The bite from 4pm to 7pm has been unreal in the last week. The last week we have been having some 30-50 fish days in 4-5 hours of work and there’s that hour when it seems like every drop you get one before it hits. And all in the last week have been elusive Mille lacs slot fish. The key this week has been to remove the treble hook of the buckshot and put the trailer treble on. Nobody with me has got any without this method. Tipped with a fathead head obviously.
