I’ve been trying to post this for about a month or so but haven’t gotten myself to do so. I just wanted to let you who knew Wayne know that he has passed away after fighting some health issues for the last few years.

Wayne had a huge love for fishing (and fish conservation)and loved to fish pool 4 for walleye. He also enjoyed staying on the banks of Everts in his camper after a day on the water and having a beer or two around the campfire afterwards. He would do anything for you and would help you catch fish whenever he could. He also loved ice fishing and built an ice fishing camper which he spent a lot of time in during the winter months with his labs (a LOT of time if you ask his wife ). Wayne played a large part of helping me get into ice fishing (after I won an Ice Castle which I never heard the end of) and we had a lot of fun fishing together with my dad as well. He was a close friend of my dad’s and I thought of him like a second father who I could go to.

I was finally able to get to fish pool 4 a couple of years ago with Wayne for the first time. I got to meet Dean, BK, Dustin, and several other members of IDO and had a blast (pic w/ Wayne was not from pool 4 trip). Wayne put me on my PB (28″ walleye, pic inserted) in between dodging tornados and severe weather. It was a trip I will never forget and unfortunately my first trip to pool 4 ended up to be Wayne’s last. We planned a return trip with my dad but it never happened due to his health.

For those who knew Wayne, you know how much he will be missed. RIP Wayne E (as we called him). Hope the lines are tight up there bud.

Oh Man! I was just thinking about him prior to Christmas.

I miss many people that are regulars to P4 and Wayne was certainly on the top of the list.

I would call Wayne one of those guys that was everyones friend.

Remember the fishing report’s always on the counter.

I had the privilege of fishing with Wayne a few times… he was a very good man. I hope he’s in a better place and that the fish are always biting for him. My condolences go to his wife and family.

This is sad news. Like in the picture you posted, he always was smiling and had nothing but nice things to say or talk about. He will be missed for sure.
