Ventless Heater Question

I have a 3 panel ventless heater in the fish house. When I run the single panel it is the middle panel that runs. When I run the single panel it seems like it is getting too much gas as the pilot flame seems to be too strong and the panel has flames that come off the top of the panel and nevers run at the nice glo like it is suposed too.. The outside panels glo a nice orange like they are supposed to do. If I run just the pilot, it seems like the pilot has too strong of a flame also. Any thoughts?

Orifice worn too big ? I would try to google and find instructions (or if you have them) what size orifice is suppose to be in the unit. Could be worn or I know that Natural gas, uses a different size orifice. Maybe it is set-up for that ??? Just some ideas…

adjust your pilot it is probably set for runnung all three panels not just the one. Probably not a natural gas orifice or you would definetly know it as it would sound like a jet engine and probably wouldnt have a fish house. We had a furnace tech burn up a furnace in a matter of minutes by not converting the orifices to lp

G is a sharp cookie and above is the best info that he gave to you. You need to look at an owner’s manual to find out the very important info regarding its operation. You should have a tag with the manufacturer, model and serial number. All three are important to understand the proper info for your set-up. Once found, then google and also try to find the closest local tech for the appliance if you start to feel uncomfortable with it.

Not only orifices, but other operating instructions that may be pertinent to your situation… There may be a pilot adjustment screw also, that may help, but I would try to find the manual and READ it before doing any other work to it!!!

I should add that it is 10 years old but very lightly used. It worked fine last year. I will try to look it up.
