Why is it that all I have read this off season is good players leaving the Twins. Jason Kubel just reportedly signed with D-Backs. Are we “rebuilding”?

You can add Liriano and Span to the list of departed Twins. Both will be gone by Feb. 1st.

Rebuilding……….ya I would say so. It certainly needs to be done. They are missing some parts, namely pitching but we will see what spring brings. That’s the beauty of baseball……….162 games and many things change from first pitch to season’s end.

They got the stadium, they spent the money like they said they would do. Now, what would you like them to do? Don’t say sign Kubel and Cuddyer. They didn’t want to re-sign here.

Twins payroll is $100, can’t complain they won’t spend the money. You can question how things work out (Mauer & Morneau) but you can’t complain they are cheap.

Don’t worry, it will go down substantially this year. I will be happy to have BBQ’d crow if I’m wrong. They are not done cutting contracts, and they will not sign any large free agents, they will pocket many more dollars.

They should be able to pocket some money. I don’t know how much the payroll can go down though. Even if they release Nishioka they have to pay him. They can trade Span, that would save a bit but not much. Liriano can go, but again he doesn’t make much.

Payroll will be within 10% of $100 million I’m guessing.
