Wherever you buy it make sure they install it. Heard too many stories where the installer said unit was bad and where you bought it says it was installed wrong. Buy and install one place and only one establishment to deal with if there is a problem.

I have installed auto starters for 10 years. There is an Auto Air place in blaine off 99th behind the old Denny Hackers. That does a good job, my dads truck is there today getting one put in because I have been out of town and have no time. Astro Start is the brand and they solder wires.

it is more or less for at work and else where. as we have a heated garage. not that we can park in there.

Astro Start… around $500 installed for the decent one. Pro’s are they are a good unit and there are dealers everywhere. Just make sure the installer “solders” wires and doesn’t use the scotch locks

One more thing.. depending on vehicle, very few late models now can swap remote starts from one to the other, they are pretty much vehicle specific, starting back around early 2000’s….

I was actually given one as a gift and was going to instal it myself being the gearhead I am, but after reading the instructions(I know what are instructiuons )I decided to return the unit and get some fishing equipment ( imagine that). The reason I returned it is I did not like how it required cutting apart the factory wiring harness to splice this unit in. I am an old electrician also and even spliced properly these are areas for failure due to mulitiple reasons. Thsi is just my opinion and feeling about them and I know many people have used them with never having a problem. It is my luck if it can go wrong it will go wrong so I elected not to let my luck be a factor. I have to admit it sure is nice getting into a vehicle that is warm when the temps are well below zero.

    Good Luck

Bought one last year at Mach 1. I did not buy the cheapest and did not buy the one you can start from anywhere in the world. Just bought the one that would start up to 300 ft away. I have to unlock doors manually for my truck once it is running. It has worked great! Less than $300. Best investment I ever made. truck was outside all last winter. I would start it after getting out of the shower in the morning. 10 minutes later I was hopping into a warm, defrosted truck. I do not plan on taking it with as most new truck and cars offer it as an option.

My current truck came with a remote starter. I don’t know that I woul have ever thought about getting one. It’s awesome. It is smart enough to know whether it is cold or hot out and automatically adjusts the heat or air accordingly. Even turns on my heated seats in the winter.

Has anyone had one of the remote starters installed in a Diesel? Reason is the glowplugs have to have a time delay to cycle them and to heat up the cylinders to start.

Yep, we install in diesels… it does have the delay, to let the plugs warm up In a diesel is where you can really appreciate one when it’s -10F
