We’ll be moving to Lake City in the near future and will have a very nice view of the lake. Am questioning if I should purchase binoculars or a spotting scope for looking at wildlife, boats and so on. Please let me know what you think would be best…

From your house/deck? Spotting scope all the way. Since it’s not for hiking/stalking you don’t need to be concerned about weight and bulkiness. In fact we use dad’s telescope for looking at wildlife across the lake all the time.

Exactly the ‘wild-life’ I was thinking of

Congrats on the move close to the big river Mike!

The problem with the size Bi’s your looking at is that you’ll need a tripod to hold them steady anyway.

I got a pair of these from Barska. They are a pair of 12-60×70 Binoculars with Tripod. Bigger field of vision and great eye relief. They were on sale for $99.99 and free shipping.Take a look. SKU: AB10172-CO http://www.shopbarska.com

I like those. I always liked viewing things with two eyes.
