Asking fans to pay the bill and taking out their own loan seems to be an incredibly FAIR way to fund a stadium.

“The last time the Packers held a stock sale – in 1997-’98 – the team netted $22 million on the sale of 120,010 shares at $200 apiece. “

Agreed, but GB is a special situation and it works for them. Though the last big renovation and Lambeau Field itself was tax payer funded when it was first built….

No laughing here. I think it’s awesome. People that want to support the team do. People that don’t aren’t forced to do so. It’s brilliant and I have a huge amount of respect for the way the Packers handle their business on and off the field!

Just an FYI Chappy, you can only buy 200 shares max, so $50,000 max for you and your ilk

I’ll take the $250 and save it for a LX7, still watch them on TV for free if you dont factor in cable / satellite charges. I like the team and all but my money is more valuable to me. It is a great idea though….

Actually you do get some benes, although small.get to go to anuall shareholder meeting/Dinner and after to first team practice inside hudson center to start training camp.you can purchase share holder only available packer clothing.and you do get a vote on some things such as board of director appointment, ect but not on team personal decisions. Also free togo to hall of fame, and stadium tour.If your a season ticket person, like myself, then the cost after a few yrs is a wash. They also had a one time seat tax last renovation to keep your season ticket, was 600 per seat for the package im on.Good wayto offset the cost to people that see the games

I’m sure it is hard for some to understand why people would support a team that actually brings a ton of revenue into there home state

At least we know we will have a team in state forever and we dont need tax money to keep them.

Maybe the LA Vikings can try this.
I will be asking the wife first, she’s a bit strange, she like the quennies, but the piece of paper will look nice on the wall.

This from the “west” where the wailing and gnashing of teeth is heard every time the Queens mention a new stadium.

I thought I read they only sold 120K of the 400K shares that were approved for the last sale. This sale they approved 250K for sale. They won’t sell that many shares this time. My wife and I got married during the last sale. My former co-workers gave us each a share. I thought it was the best wedding gift we got. We have them framed above the bar at the cabin. Now, if I had to decide between a new Loomis rod or the piece of paper?

I heard on the news tonight that you could also have to pay for a fine if imposed by the NFL? Anyone know anything of this?

Some people buy caps, some people buy jerseys, some people buy bumper stickers and some people buy flags for their car windows. This is just another way of saying that you support your team.

That’s what was laughing about! Only in Wisconsin! LOL It was said earlier……It works for them, I don’t think it would hold much water for the Queens!

Last time around I bought one share for each of my boys! Kind of neat that they get invited to the stockholders meeting and can claim to be “part owners” of the 13 time World Champion Green Bay Packers! (or is it 14????)

Packer announced they have sold 185,000 shares of stock so far. All I can say is WOW, they are well on there way to selling all 250,000 shares. The team is very smart to be capitalizing on there peak performance of late Cash generated so far = 46 and a 1/4 million $$$$

    Bigpike,
I would have never guessed they would have sold that many shares so soon considering they only sold 120K the last time. Maybe we could borrow our friends from the west some money for their stadium.
