Quit smoking. You will have less crap to cough up.
I’m a big fan of Contact. I also will drink a bunch of orange juice when I feel it coming on.
December 1, 2011 at 2:49 pm #1013585mega doses of Vit C for me. Til my pee turns orange…
hot lemon honey if it morphs into a sore throat…
December 1, 2011 at 3:12 pm #1013597I gorge on vitamin C. I buy 1000 mg tablets. I normally take one a day, but when I feel like I am coming down with something, I take two or three of those a day. I can honestly say that it helps me a ton. Vitamin C is water soluble, so you don’t have to worry about ODing–you’ll just pee it out.
I also like Ricola drops. It might be psychological, but they are comforting to me.
December 1, 2011 at 3:34 pm #1013609Alka Seltzer cold jell tabs and I drink a little honey and milk in tea.

December 1, 2011 at 3:38 pm #1013610My wife is in the medical field and they recommend over the counter Mucinex DM xtra strength. It is the strongest stuff you can get without a prescription. I just took one a few minutes ago. I’ve been struggling with a cough off and on for about a month. It stops the urge to cough incessantly and thins the mucus so that when you cough it is more productive. Kinda pricey, but one tablet lasts 12 hours.
December 1, 2011 at 3:42 pm #1013612here is the trick i learn from my dad.
Theraflu Cold&Cough. instead of consume it all at once like direction said, you only take a zip or two when you are coughing( day and night). you’ll be good in couple of day doing this.

December 1, 2011 at 4:27 pm #1013626You drink a cold and starve a fever. Couple of brandy’s before bed and you’ll feel better. I also like zicam.
December 1, 2011 at 4:35 pm #1013631Korbel Brandy, Honey, and some Nyquil right before I’m ready to try and sleep.
Plenty of vitamin C is crucial but once it hits, sleep is your best friend!December 1, 2011 at 4:36 pm #1013632Quote:

Nice, probably shouldnt say that to a recovering alcoholic who recently asked for help.
December 1, 2011 at 4:56 pm #1013637I have a lot of years of colds under my belt and I am of the opinion right now that doing nothing works best. Tried Vit C so many times with no results. Eat good food, drink good liquids and ride it out. Also depends on severity. if you have a cold thats more like a flu then pain meds and rest are usually a good idea. I rarely take anithisti***(sp)
