I use Cabela’s snagmaster, a buddy uses something called the hounddog. Both have been successful in getting Rapalas off the snag and retail for 10 bucks.

I like to yank and pull has hard as I can to see if I can make it worse.

I just bust the line. Something I learned a long time ago from a Jim teacher is life is full of annoying problems. Best to just move on.

I have a collapsible pole that I attach an old nylon fishing net to. You put the pole down into the water and try to get the hooks caught up into the netting. I rarely lose anything with treble hooks. I do not use it for jigs. You will probably have to rebend some of the hooks or even replace them as the split rings sometime straighten out, but this is cheaper than a new bait. This sometimes take several minutes to find the bait and hook it up and is tougher in current. Almost all of my really tough snags are from peoples junk ie: fishing line, rope and other assorted stuff too numerous to mention. A hunk of barge rope is a real pain.
