Just a reminder… set those DVR’s for this Sunday’s episode on FSN @ 8 AM. We’re out on Devils Lake on the biggest school of huge perch I’ve ever seen on an underwater camera. Lots of fish 1.5 – 2 lbs with some terrific underwater footage.

The perch at 1:33 is one heck of a fish! And notice And how important it was to stay away from those pesky snake pike. As soon as one of those pike spotted your lure the best thing you could do was just drop your lure to the bottom and let it sit until the pike left. Then you had time to work a perch or two. Absolutely no way to do that without the camera.

Just curious James, what kind of water clarity did you have to get this great footage on Devils. I suppose it helps being in 10.5 ft of water. I’ve got an 825 SD coming tomorrow and can’t wait.

I wasn’t there and I’m going to guess 6 to 10 feet. Pretty close Mr. Holst?

Actually the water clarity wasn’t all that great when compared to Mille Lacs, etc. I’d say 6 – 7 feet when the sun was high in the sky. We did have 35+ inches of ice and thick snow cover so that was cutting down on the light penetration. But the 625 SD did a great job pulling down an incredible image. I was a 39 year old kid staring at that screen trying to catch those jumbos!

I’ve talked with many people about cameras and the most often comments I’ve heard are about…

    1. The snow effect when in deep or dark water.

    2. The camera makes the fish (and other things) larger then what the are. Magnifies the images.

This was true a number of years ago even with the MarCum cameras…well at least the snow storm effect in dark water.

The MarCum’s of today are truly WYSIWYG without any special effects.

    WYSIWYG…..

I believe it was Apple Computer that used this first in the 1990’s.

Confusion comes easy to me … my thoughts for the day will now be clouded, as I try and figure that one out.

The phrase was originally a catchphrase popularized by Flip Wilson’s drag persona “Geraldine” (from Rowan & Martin’s Laugh-In in the late 1960s and then on The Flip Wilson Show until 1974), who would often say “What you see is what you get” to excuse her quirky behavior.

It was actually started in the ’80 when Apple introduced the Lisa computer.

Even crazier to look at the camera and see another dozen swimming in circles below the hole.
