Having boughten a pair of Cannon downriggers that need a bit of TLC, I ordered a termination kit to replace the end of one of the cables.

All went well until I actually came to put it on.

Cannon must assume we all have done this before and have 20-20 vision, unfortnately the abbreviated instructions leave a bit to be desired.

I have neither done this before or 20-20 vision, so I’m not exactly sure what hole is A or B, nor in what sequence do I place the wire.

I thought maybe I could open the other one and see how the wire was run in that termination, my luck I’d end up with two that needed ends..

Checked on line but found nothing so far, I did see some of the same kits come with a much better diagram on how the wire is run, but can’t see it well enough to copy.

Anybody have better instructions than the small piece of paper that came with my kit, or know them well enough to maybe walk me though one??

If worse comes to worse bring it up and ill do it for ya whenever you come to town. You wont be using it for awhile so you have some time lol. It is a bit confusing for someone who hasn’t done it before.

    That’ll work.
Can you reuse them plastic termination snap thingies?
Be nice to just bring a bit of cable instead of the whole downrigger maybe.

    Thanks.

just start by what needs to be highest on the line. Then everything should fall in line.

i upgrade all my connectors to 300#, but that’s the only change i make.

i also add a line protector, i.e. a small piece of fuel hose that ll the wire runs thru.

AND, i use a wire twist that’s been gutted as a connector guard.

When i make these up, i make two extra sets and store them in a ziplock in a hardware box…

Good luck. It’s less confusing after the first time. (successful time that is…)

If you want to drive across the river, i’ll do it here. I’ve got LOTS of crimps around…
