Anybody have any special projects for their boats this winter?

My major expense will be a new locator. Most likely down scan although I haven’t bought anything yet. Only other thing I might do some year is get a new trailer. But I think the locator comes first.

Anybody else have any projects planned??

I think if you need a trailer I’d go for that 1st!

    Don’t confuse want with need.

My main boat project for the winter is to continue convincing the wife that a new boat is needed!!

Thinking of buying a Makoi boat and getting it rigged for some small river exploring this winter.
Its a 12ft one person jet drive that draws 4 inches of water.

The only two things I have left to do this winter are to add side bunks to the trailer, and a new on board charger. That should be an hour or two worth of work.

I purchased an older 16 Starcraft early October and for starters I’m replacing the floor decking and going with vinyl to cover it. Then redoing the wiring and reconditioning the rod storage and steering console and gunwales. Lay out of seats and storage is still in planning stages.

    Riverweed:
Are you replacing the carpet with vinyl material or the deck boards and all? The carpet in my Lund is shot and I saw a vinyl type material in a Crestliner yesterday that would be just the ticket but I have neve seen in any stores. Anybody have any ideas where this can be purchased.
    Thanks, B

I am planning on building a surface drive this winter. Anybody got a good source for a 20-30 hp motor?

Stuart – I ordered two Mokai’s and they will be built this week. Ordered them with the front mounted anchor’s. I got them before the price increase. Now I’am having a problem getting the correct trailer for hauling two side by side. I have been looking at PWC trailers. Can’t wait for them to get here but they will have sit until next spring to use them. Plan on using the MOKAI’S on small to medium rivers for Smallie fishing here in eastern Iowa.

Try Cabela’s marine catalog Marine Standard Flooring Vinyl. It is currently on sale for $14.88 per 3′ (73″ width). I floored my fishhouse with it. Works great and is easy to install.

Buckey I’m going to replace it all. That vinyl marine flooring dugout mentioned is really nice, I like the the color selection to choose from and I have seen some real nice floors done with it.
I’ll have to look into the Cabela’s stuff also.

Re felting my felt pads on the trailer. Sanding and painting some of the rust on the shorelander.

Anyone know of a place to get the best price on two Goodyear Marathon’s St185/80R13’s?

Best i could find was on line at $85. +shipping + mounting + balancing +++ ended up being more than a local Goodyear Dealer which I would rather pay if the price is close.

Is there a tire just as good for less than a bill?

    1) Add a storage drawer to my electronics compartment
    2) Add two on board tackle boxes/compartments
    3) Move Vantage from Starboard to port
    4) Move head of Terrova from port to Starboard
    5) Replace back rollers with bunks
    6) Install steps from trailer to get in and out of boat while loading/unloading
    7) Under gunwale lights from bow to stern for night fishing

Boy I am tired already but can’t wait till spring. Plan on winterizing this Friday

I’m hauling mine down to Florida for 3 months of fishing on the St Johns river. This will be a first time trip starting in January. New experience and challenges.

BK Ive had great luck with Discount Tire in Stillwater. They know their stuff and dont try to steer you into a particular brand. They will try to find a comparable tire that is less expensive if that’s what is ask for.

No projects as I store my boat for the winter. I figure if I can’t see it I won’t get the itch come mid winter so bad lol. I am probably going to buy another hds7 to have on hand for next year.
