I think it really depends on the gear you are using. I would have said a Lake Sturgeon until I caught a King Salmon on light gear. A Laker might jump 4′ in the air, but we had kings flying 20+’ across only a few feet above the water with multiple runs per fish. Sounds like a salt water trip is in order

I asked the wife and she said Musky, but then I remembered she caught a 28 pound musky while fishing for crappies with a ultra light and 4 pound test, gear would make the difference..
My thought was comparing each fish with comparible gear, trying to keep equal footing here.
Quite the varity of fish so far, thanks all.

I still can’t believe people wet their pants on a 5# sunfish, which isn’t even realistic, but won’t give a white bass its due. Oh well, less pressure is nice for me.
The lord made white bass for folks that can’t catch real fish.

That’s cool. Less pressure means they’ll be an easier target for me.November 12, 2011 at 6:25 pm #1008441All of the fish that have been mentioned are good fighting fish and fight in their in way, so I think it is all about what is the way a person prefers to fight a fish. I have caught King (chinook) salmon and their ripping line off the reel is alot of fun, I have gotten cramps from fight with some in the 25lb range. Yet a river smallie (if we are talking equal sized fish) I think still fights harder but it is a different kind of a battle. So I geuss it is not that important to me, I enjoy the different fighting styles of the different fish, so as long as it’s not dead I’m having fun

I will never say that I have catch every fish that has been listed here but I have caught most of them. What I will say is that a 5 pound saltwater fish will but any 5 pound freshwater fish to shame, from my experience.
This little 8 pound tuna spooled me twice using saltwater gear, 300 yards plus at a time.Ron

I haven’t been fishing here that long or caught all fishes mentioned but my most fave to catch is northern pike then bass. Never caught a sturgeon before but sounds like a fun one to catch.November 13, 2011 at 8:50 pm #1008616Quote:

not up here, but down in lake havasu,az I think it was a new green sunfish state record was caught on a bass worm weighing 4-5 pounds. reservoirs down there stock trout for the stripers so the green sunfish have no real predators.
