I was looking at the Frabil Fxe Snosuit and run accross the Ice Suit for a lot less money. Can anyone give me any insight to the difference in warmth on the Ice Suit. I am just using for cold weather wear, not for ice fishing. Getting older makes it more difficult to stay warm in winter. Appreciate any help you can give me.

In speaking with Frabill here is a general overview looking at the “IceSuit” versus the “Snosuit”.
The “Icesuit” is separate from the “Snosuit” – The “Icesuit” is a great suit, but at a lower price point. In fact, it has more features and better performance than any other suit at that price.
The Snosuit is still the best of the best and nothing really competes with it. Snosuit is going to be warmer, with slightly more durable fabric and more reinforcement at knees. For the on-the-ice-everyday-in-every-condition guy, the Snosuit is it.
I’m sure there may be other comparisons, but this is what I’ve gathered per my research in comparing the two suits.

I use the SnoSuit bibs only when fishing sturgeon at night. Now the temps only get to the low 30’s on the water, but leaving the vents open it’s keeps me just right.

November 2, 2011 at 5:47 pm #1006060I have owned and used the Artic Armor, Icesuit and the Sno Suit by Frabil.
If I am going to do alot of walking in the outdoors, then I will wear my Ice Suit or the AA suit.
Now, if I am going out in the very cold outdoors, the Sno Suit will be my suit of choice.
The Sno Suit is a bit heavier and bulkier than the ot5her 2 but if it is severely cold outside, then thats the suit I will use.
The other 2 suits are great suits for the money but simply are not as warm as the Sno Suit.
If it is very cold out and I am going to use the AA or Ice suit, I would have to dress with an extra layer underneath but with the Sno Suit, not needed.
I was on Rainy Lake a few years back when the temps dipped to -40. We fished for 3 days on the ice from sunrise to sunset and traveled probably 40 miles those days and I was never cold.
Talking gloves, if your hands get cold outdoors in the winter, check out the Sno Suit mitts or gloves as they also are very warm. As usual, the mitts are somewhat warmer than the gloves with the fingers.
I guess the suit you want will depend heavily on the outdoor temps you go out in.
For the difference in money, if you are not out in the severe cold, I would be tempted to go with the Icesuit.
November 2, 2011 at 6:12 pm #1006067Bought my dad this suit last year for Christmas and he really likes it. Its warm and you can move well in it, also has nice pockets. I think I will be purchasing one myself this year.
