You guys worry to much…..it is a TV show intended to entertain.

Real or not, I find it enjoyable to sit with a cold one and watch the show.

Worry, naw, we’re just teasing each other, I think it’s all a set up too and just watch to see how bizarre it gets.

The problem is.. Discovery Channel is shooting for the majority of viewers… not those of us that just want to see guys mining and making or not making gold. They are targeting the jersy shore/deadliest catch/etc crowd tha isn’t paying attention for the drama. I could care less about the drama… actually turns me off. But, there are plenty of those that DO watch that they are targeting and so the script resumes and those like me have to deal with all the crap to wait and see if the guys make any money. Ho hum… waiting and waiting…

I read up a little more on this. The whole debacle of Dakota Fred coming in and kicking them off the claim was staged!

Where did you read that? I used the googles and couldn’t find it.

Quite a bit of information on Facebook… on the Alaska Gold Rush page as well as Dakota Fred’s page. Just have to weed through all the threats and garbage.

I avoided this thread all week because I was up in Ripley getting ready for the weekend hunt and I TIVOd it at home. Watched it last night.

A COMPLETE JOKE AND FAKE JOB is what I got out of this. Dakota Fred said something like “I know everyone is going to think i’m the bad guy, etc, but I’m not” IMO he was saying in a subtle way that this was staged and he got $$$ for doing his acting.

    1. NO way anyone could be dumb enough to sink that kinda cash into a business and then miss a rent payment, not even dumb horrible businessman TODD could be that stupid.
    2. It’s Discovery’s way to milk out another 9 episodes of us really watching nothing until the end of the season where they leave you hang on for the following year.
    3. If this is reality TV, how is it that none of the guys walked away or punched Todd in the face? Missing the rent payment basically screwed up their lives for another year..

I’m pissed..Loved the show but this is just too fake for me. I think i’m going to have to go searching for something that shows it’s legit so I can watch it again, cause I really did like it last year. There, i’m done.

yes it was legal but the fact of the matter is that fred was an arrogant man who should have listen to tod in his request to wait two days to get out before moving in but he acted like an a$$ an started to move in early. also his personality about the situation made me want to hit him. so inconsiderate.

Apparently, Dakota Fred deleted his facebook account due to death threats.

Did you see last nights episode or the after show online at Discovery channel online. The Hoffmans new lease sounds like it should or could pay off pretty good. The old dredge that was used back then sits there and couldn’t dredge all of the area it sat in and thats what they are going to work. What did they say on how much gold they got then and compared it to todays prices, 1 Billion? The area thier going to work looks like a strip along side a creek or river Klondike? and looks only to be a few acres where the water wasen’t deep enough for the dredge to get too. With prices doubleing since last season at around $1,500 an ounce and with the gold the dreadge found in the past it sounds like they could find a substancial amount or enough to make it worth thier while. The gold investor that Todd talked too for finianceing thought gold possibly might go too $2,500 an ounce. At $1,500 an ounce they might do pretty good.

The wife got gold fever last night and asked if there was any gold in Iowa. Theres a couple small rivers in N.E. Iowa that has gold in them that was brought down by the glacers so I did a search. Found out that Decorahs college in N.E. Iowa did a study back in the early 70,S and at that time it was possible to get a 1/4 ounce a day panning for it. I told her that and now she wants me to go panning for gold, I just might give it a try. It would be fun just trying to find it. The DNR does have rules on panning for it so it is possible, what the heck I might try it and have a spot already picked out by my friends house, Hillbilly Daves place.
