OMG what a comedy of errors. Last season was one screw up after another. Now this year starts out with the crew finally getting going but then it’s revealed that Toad forgot to make a payment on the lease so it gets sold. It’s no wonder all but one of these guys can’t afford to pay attention.
October 29, 2011 at 1:29 am #1005033Was hoping to see them hit it big. Not sure I can stand another season… Kind of dissapointed, but reminds me why I dont watch much tv.
October 29, 2011 at 12:31 pm #1005058What a bummer to get the news that the claim was now owned by Dakota Fred and he was going to mine it himself. Legally he owns it but I wonder why eigther of them didn’t contact the guys to ask if they were still interisted in the lease, possible millions at stake is probably the reason. They left thier equipment there and told everybody they were coming back. It sounds like Dakota Fred was doing a little dealing behind the scenes trying to get the lease or the sale, now after the guys hit gold. Dakota Fred is a good miner it sounds like and probably used his reputation to influance the owner of the claim to sell to him, again after the guys finially hit high concentrations in gold. I know it was boughten legally but I feel for the guys, what an opportunity for Dakota Fred to just walk into. A short clip of whats coming showed some equipment being slid off a semi trailor, I hope its the Hoffmans equipment and I hope they hit it big on a new lease. I’m not much interised in what Dakota Freds success is and I’d prefer not to see any of his setup. I know its was a legal sale but it still left a bad taste in my mouth after what happened. I hope a new claim pays off big for the Hoffmans with nuggets the size of marbles and golfballs.
October 29, 2011 at 3:20 pm #1005071Yeah… what Dakota Fred did was slimy.. but it was legal. It sounds like Todd missed a lease payment which basically negated any standing they had. If he didn’t miss the payment, Dakota Fred woulda had to honor the lease agreement. Todd messed up and Fred jumped on it.
October 29, 2011 at 4:40 pm #1005073Dakota dipshi7 “I know it looks like I am jumping claim… but I am not”…. wtf do you call it then He should have been a lawyer…slimeball.
October 29, 2011 at 8:32 pm #1005090Considering it was the bozo Todd who forgot (how the hell do you forget something like that?) to pay what he owed, I think I’d blame Todd in this one.
Just a continuing sage of screw ups…

Yup. He forgot to pay the rent. Can’t blame anyone but yourself when you find yourself looking for a new roof over your head when the rent is overdue.
October 29, 2011 at 11:58 pm #1005114I have to agree. Right or wrong… you own the claim… you know there are millions there… and it is all but in your pocket (hole already dug)… and the rentee fails to make good… Quite honestly, I would be all over that too! Millions!
timmyPosts: 1960October 30, 2011 at 12:22 am #1005118How many of you would buy something if it were for sale – knowing that somebody else had sunk a lot of money into it and it was a good deal? No different than buying anything that is a great deal……
If the claim was for sale – and Fred had the money to buy it, he would have been kind of stupid to not buy it……

October 31, 2011 at 2:21 pm #1005391Let’s be honest: The only reason anyone watches the show is because that whole crew in comprised of colossal nitwits. We revel in their failure. It’s like Jersey Shore for men.
Not to spoil it, but something tells me a lot of the drama with Dakota Fred was fabricated. If you remember Jimmy Dorsey from last season (arguably the 2nd biggest screw up on the show next to the old man), he had a blog. http://www.goldminingrealityshow.com/ In it, he tells a lot of the ins and outs of the show and what was real and what was set up by Discovery.
I hope they have a camera crew following Dakota Fred this year so we can see the proper way to mine gold.
October 31, 2011 at 2:44 pm #1005404What…a reality show is neither reality or a show
I watched about 20 minutes of it, and when Fred showed up to take over the mine I knew it was a huge fabrication. I do hope Discovery paid him a lot of money because they made him up to be a HUGE D-Bag.
I bet you are going to tell me that Professional Wrestling is not real either.
October 31, 2011 at 3:49 pm #1005431A hugely successful TV show and they can’t pay the rent… I’d have burned the place to the ground and filled in the hole first before I left.

I thought it was because guys like to hear people talk about glory holes. Web Soup did a montage of the show with a bunch of innuendo and it was hilarious.Your Jersey Shore comment makes no sense. I watch Jersey Shore!
October 31, 2011 at 4:21 pm #1005445I equate Dakota to a Jackel or Hyena. They take advantage of others fortunes or misfortunes, whichever suits them best. I do think this was all a set-up, who wants to watch them pump millions out of the ground… it’s much better when they are down to their last spoonful of diesel fuel and they are fueding. Yes, it is set-up, but either way, Dakota is a slimeball… in my book, their is such a thing as legal and such a thing as morals. When they go together, great, when they clash, you get a guy like Dakota trash. (if you watched last year, then you know how big of an azz he can be, not that he doesn’t know how to mine, he is just the kid that had his sandbox all to himself as a kid)
October 31, 2011 at 4:55 pm #1005464Is Dakota the old bas&^^% that just kicked them off the old jobsite?

I thought that show was only for women and teenagers. Either way, everyone just wants to see them fall in a giant pool of fail soup. Unfortunately, their the ones getting paid so the joke’s really on us.
October 31, 2011 at 8:24 pm #1005532I read up a little more on this. The whole debacle of Dakota Fred coming in and kicking them off the claim was staged!
If any of you watched the pre-series special… Todd went out and bought a new bull dozer, and 3 new water pumps. In the season premier… you saw 1 of those new water pumps at Porcupine but the Dozer was nowhere around. hmm… what happened to them? Maybe they were sent to another site in preparation?
Todd was trying to get out of the lease at that site. And because of that, they worked this whole Dakota Fred thing into it. It is SCRIPTED! It was planned! Same thing with Dorsey last season. It was planned that he was leaving. Sounds like the fight and broken ribs happened a bit earlier than planned, but him leaving was in the script. As for the claim, Todd was already planning on leaving.
Dakota Fred has been posting about this… possibly in direct violation of his agreement with Discovery Channel. But he has been getting death threats over this issue and he is trying to bring to light the fact that it was the production company’s fault for how they brought the issue to TV. It didn’t go down like we saw on TV.
Again.. it is all scripted.

Yeah and if they hadn’t found an ounce, he still would have bought it….Santa is also real…. think on that one…
October 31, 2011 at 11:03 pm #1005561The reason the d-7 bulldozer was bought is becase Todd Hoffman got a lead on another mine up in the Klondike. Its 1000 miles north of this claim and they flew in to see the area during winter. It was the furthest northern mine on the Klondike. The reason they didn’t get to mine that area is because the state of Alaska was far behind in examining new leases where theres water involved thats needed to mine with. At the very last moment, right befor they were leaving for Alaska they were informed that the state wasen’t going to give any water leases for that mine because the state was so far behind in examining each new water lease request, so they had to go back to porcupine creek. I wonder if Todd didn’t make the payment on the porcupine creek lease because he thought he’d be able to lease the mine in the klondike. The guy that flew Todd and his father up to the Klondike lease was the one that set them up too lease this new mine, a virgin mine and was also the one that put those huge nuggets in that pan when they got there, one was the size of a golfball, that one was close to a pound and was worth about $25,000 by itself.
October 31, 2011 at 11:44 pm #1005570I did think on it, he failed to pay his rent and dakota bought the lease, doen’t matter whether they thought they found gold or not.
Maybe you ought to think on it??
