Another Truck Repair Question

So my post earlier in the week ended up being the starter on the chevy silverado 1500. Thanks for all your repsonses. However, once in a great while when I turn the key the truck does not roll over, click, no lights come on in the dash or headlights. Turn the key back to off and turn it and starts just fine. So this is obviously very hard to fix because it only does it once in a great while and ends up starting anyways. Is it something to worry about? I don’t want to pay to get anything replaced unless I know what it is for sure. I was thinking maybe the ignition? Or some relay? Thought I would get some thoughts from the Pros

    Thanks,
    Chad

That happened on a suburban I had. It ended up being the fuel pump was going. Ended up completly going out on me up at Lake of the woods. This was just my experience. I don’t know how to check the status of the fuel pump.

Chad ,I would look real close at the ignition they have been known to cause the described problems and even some shift issues.

Have you tried cleaning your battery terminals?

I would double check the ground cable on the battery is good, has a strong connection, and is not corroded.

I don’t think it is the fuel pump because it would at least turn over. I checked the battery terminals and they looked great. I am thinking it’s the ignition switch!!!! Thanks.

The fuel pump doesn’t make the engine turn over. Just so you know.

I’D have to go with checking out the battery & alternator, how old is the battery? battery, alternator, ignition, check battery voltage when running, then check battery voltage when shut off. Process of illimination my friend!

If all of your connections look good, I would suspect the problem is in the ignition switch. No lights coming on or cranking sounds like you are not making a connection inside the switch.
    Good luck.

Same kind of thing was going on with my wife’s car. Ended up being the key, it was the ones that have that little chip in it. I do not know if your has that, it is a little bump like thing on the key (technical term lol ) is the only way I can describe it. She switched to her spare key and have not had an issue since. I hope this helps.
