My parents came down to visit with my family for the weekend, as we have a 8month old baby girl that grandma needs to spoil. With a little convincing of the ladies I was allowed to take my old man out in search of some smallmouth on Lake Mendota.
And at least one smallmouth we did find….Shown in the pic is the result. 21 1/4″ @ 6lbs 05oz.
In all Sunday, the fish were not very active and the water was still fairly green. Fish were caught on very slow presentations with small finesse baits in 12-20ft of water.
It was a pretty sweet moment in the boat as I can hardly remember all of the times fall fishing with my old man when I was younger. To take him out yesterday, and put him on a fish like this, I will never forget.
