Mono to Braid BEST KNOT

OKOKOK some of these setups don’t have to be knotless and 300 yards of braid is enuf…

So, the reels are ususally coming with some sort of mono on them and i’m not up to stripping it and replacing it with maxima (I’ve only got 3000 yards of maxima left and don’t see a reason to buy more)

So, what knot has been the most successful for you guys mixing line types…

    FWIW, Sufix makes NOT SUGGESTIONS…

I don’t know if it’s the best, but I have been using the Albright for many years with ZERO failure and it’s easy to do.

    Here ya go…. best knots
The Albright is easy and as good as the double Uni…The Surgeons Knot is the quickest/smallest for me but I always do an extra time through with the braid… never failed me yet.

I’ve used the back to back Uni knot with no problems, both for backing to superline and superline to mono leader. I just feel a “tick” at night when the bait is out the length of the leader and the transition between line goes through the last eyelet.

    This is interesting.

I’ve always tied a double uni. worked ok.test lb of break strength is low tho… 80-95

the surgeons tests the best 100+ BUT sheared each time i tied it 20 mono to 10 braid.

the albright, which tests good at 100, i could not break. cut thru my tennis shoe tread…

    still testing…

I have always been told that the two lines that you are tying together should be of the similar diameter. This could be your problem. Though, I have never tested it. Something to consider though.

    Stu, I do that 20# leader to 10# braid a lot…wrap the 20 mono thru twice and the 10 braid 4 times…it shouldn’t shear the 20…

Here’s a video to a great knot. Works great and is fairly easy to tie:

I saved the link on the browser on my phone so I could reference it until I had it down pat.

I have tried the albright & surgeons and they both failed when tying 10# Spiderwire stealth to fluorocarbon leader. I then went with the back to back uni knot and it has worked very very well.

Forgot to mention this is a very compact knot. I use it for leaders and it passes through size 3 micro guides no problem.

I have had the Albright fail with braid and fluro possibly due to the fluro being folded in half as it was the thicker line of the two. It may work better with braid and mono though.

The other thing I’m reading is that WITH BRAID, the albright needs 10 TEN wraps on the larger line to hold. Braid is thicker, slicker, etc…
