I want to adhere some blue board to a piece of unpainted pine on a trolling board. This helps balance the board in high waves to reduce it’s ‘diving’, a fatal affliction of the industry.

I’ve tried several glues, but none seem to satisfy all my concerns:
    1. optimal foam to wood adhesion.
    2. water proof when dry.
    3. reasonably quick curing time, 1-4 hours.

I’ve tried 3M 5200 and it was OK, but the curing time is truly 2-4 days, i.e. not real good.

Any suggestions?? I’ll share the board design with the winning suggestion…

I have used LOCTITE Construction glue on many projects ( mostly ones outdoors) and this is really great glue. Comes in a Caulking tube and find it at Home Depot. Make sure whatever you are gluing is where you need it to be because once this stuff goes on, it isn’t coming off. Good luck.

There are two versions of the 3M 5200. Standard which I assume you used, that cures in a couple days. And a fast cure version that is cured in 24 hours- 3M 5200FC

Thanks guys, next time i’m going by Menards, i’ll buy some of both.

I’m putting 2 inches of blue core on the the INSIDE board of a double board planning system. Should stop all diving…

Well LocTite bought out one of my previous suppliers. I’ve use the PLXXX products for many years with somewhat mixed success.

I went with a foam board adhesive PL300; it has a 24 hour cure, so i’ll give it 2 days before i cut it and 5 days before i immerse it. It’s a water soluable glue and i’ve not had good luck with that stuff submerged, but for some reason, i’ve got high hopes. This stuff is only periodically submerged, so that may help it out…

If this works, i get to take 2# of lead out of the boat, and that would be nice…
