Another truck question everyone. Hopefully they are coming to an end. I am thinking about putting a Tonneau Cover on my truck until I realized they are about $500 including tax. Has anyone tried some cheaper ones on the internet for aorund $200? I am not real excited about the snap covers either. Seems like they would break in cold weather. Any opinions? Thanks.

Cheap ones and cold weather don’t get along very well. They often get brittle, and if you have a good tight fitting one in summer, you won’t be able to stretch it enough to snap or velcro it in winter. I went with a custom made fiberglass one. Ran me $900 but it has worked well for the 2 1/2 years I’ve had it.

I’ve had 3 trucks with the same kind of cover on all of them. A Truxedo they run around 425 installed. Really like them and they hold up well. Glenn

I like the access cover I have. Lifetime warranty. I had one get a real small crack from the sun and cold and they replaced it no questions asked.

I have a black cover. It is a hard cover made of plastic/poly whatever. Strong enough to stand on and only weights 60 lbs. 1 guy can take it off and it locks also. It is called undercover but it sells under other names also. Ordered it online and had free shipping to boot. It was around $475.

If you have an 8′ box, I have one listed in the classifieds. Willing to look at an offer.

I’ve never had an issue with my access cover, been on there for a few years now. I got mine used off of CL, still looks like new.

I’ve got an Access cover on my truck. It’s been a good cover and wasn’t cheap. My only complaint is I really miss my topper.

The tonneau cover just doesn’t have the storage/cover that my topper had.

Like said, Access is a good one. I have seen them all…and another one I would put on my own truck is a Truxedo, it’s just like the Access cover, they both roll, hold there color and don’t crack and shrink.

I have a roll up also that came brand new with my truck, it is an 05 and the cover is in great shape. It does velcro down on the sides to the covers rail. Mine still works great all year round, no problems in winter. The contractor I used to work for had these on the two pick up truck they owned and I gaurantee they had a lot of hard use opening closing and stuff poking at them and we did not have an issue with them, I was there for seven years and my friend is still there driving one of the trucks and that cover is still in good working shape, it’s 10 years old now. I like the roll up because it is easy to get out of the way for a load and easy o put back. It is hard to remove a hard cover when your on the road and need to haul an unexpected load, but as with anything to each their own and what works best for them. This is just my experince and opinion.

I have an Access Cover that I installed on my truck in 2001.

If I wash it really good, it could probably pass for new. Its held up that well. Velcro is just as sticky now as it was years ago.
