I knew that would get somebody’s attention

The problem is that someone down in Mexico keeps wanting me to buy their Viagra and wont stop sending me e-mails. I block the sender every time and the next day the same message appears with a different name. How do I block it for good? Thanks in advance.

I thought I was the only person that would post a subject like that….I would suggest just buying some…they’ll stop pestering you then for sure

Is the subject line the same? You really need to find something that’s simialar in all the emails and unique to them to block them.

I’m sure you know not to click on the “unsubscribe” button. Once they get ya it’s tough to get them off your finger…so to speak!

    Been out yet Dirk?

    Send him a virus, JK
The only way I know to cure this is change your e-mail address, keep your old address and let the mail box fill up that way anyone who sends mail to that address will get an undeliverable message. Be careful who you give your new address to, I know this is a hassle but it works.

I like viagra. I take a pill every night to keep me from rolling out of bed.

Many of you may finding that the Spam mail problems are starting to get out of hand. Once your name makes it out to thesse guys it just gradually gets worse and you will find yourself wishing that the email was about something as tame as Viagra. I had this happen at work and a guy suggested this Spam Filter (http://spambayes.sourceforge.net). A spam filter doesn’t prevent spam, it will just help you automatically delete it. I tried this at work because I was getting about a hundred spam emails a day. Even if they give you the option to take you off their list then you may avoid that email but will get 10 more. You are having problems blocking because there’s about a million of these guys sending out viagra spam. Anyway, this thing made my life easier at work, they finally had to install a spam filter corporate wide. You can live with or try to filter them yourself but you really can’t avoid them. Also your internet provider may have a mechanism which will let you block emails based on keywords. The problem is that the spammers are getting around this by doing things like this: V.I.A.G.R.A

If you use Outlook Express, you can create message rules.
Yools/message rules/mail/new. I would create a rule for both subject line and message body which contains the word Viagra. Then delete it as the action.

Jolly – I went to those sites and I gotta admit – it doesn’t seem easy to report spam. If I reported all the spam I am getting now, I would do nothing else. I get very little spam at work. They must have good spam filters, or does the spammer not try to spam business addresses? If they have good spam filters, where can I get said filters? I’m not sure I’d want to block every message that had the word viagra (or cialis – sheesh) in it, for example my Brother in law sends me some funny stuff that might include such language. Anyway, this spam thing is starting to get out of hand. I’m on dial up, and I’m starting to spend a significant amount of time downloading spam to delete.

Sorry for the venting – I know it is not your fault

CT, that SpamBayes spam filter that I listed above doesn’t just key in on specific words to mark spam it actually asks you to tell it which messages are spam and which are good and then it uses them for training. All spam messages are moved to a separate folder, the possible spam messages are moved to another folder so that you can review and possible reclassify them as either spam or good mail. Once you use this thing for a couple of weeks it gets very good. As I stated befmore most of the keyword stuff isn’t good enough because the spammers have gotten real good at get around it by using different punctuation and stuff within the word.

CT, it’s probably not going to do any good to report it because these guys have already been reported about 100 times and they just keep moving to new email addresses. Remember these guys aren’t sending stuff from their personal email account, they are going to places like yahoo and gett free ones. They also create their own mail servers and then spoof the sender email address so that it’s not real.

Try Charter online if available. They have a great spam protector, but do get quite a bit in pop up adds. Id rather deal with pop up than email junk. FF

I hope it doesn’t come down to this but there are rumors that in the future, email will cost you 5 cents to send. This will decrease the amount of SPAM out in the world because the spammers aren’t willing to pay out for the millions of advertisements that they send. They are comparing it to putting a stamp on a letter. Ay yay yay! What’s next?
