ESPN has parted ways with Williams. The network announced the decision on Thursday, via John Ourand of SportsBusiness Journal.

“We have decided to part ways with Hank Williams, Jr.,” ESPN said in a statement. “We appreciate his contributions over the past years. The success of Monday Night Football has always been about the games and that will continue.”‬‬

So much for free speech!!- as long as you said what we want you to say. Go figure. Some people say you would have to see the whole program to see what he was saying.I think he is not to deep into the political seen. I also think it was just a fun ride for him singing the song.

What a bunch of commies! I know that know one ever said anything bad about Bush or Clinton. Wait, I forgot, the CEO of GE (parent company of ESPN/ABC) are buddies and he’s the new jobs czar for Obama, even though they’re opening plants in China right now.

He’s got a shotgun, rifle, and a four wheel drive. I’m sure he’ll survive. Seriously though, free speech is a joke. The media promotes their liberal agenda and anyone that makes a comment contrary to their agenda gets scorned. Liberal comedians that make fun of Sarah Palin’s daughter for being handicapped are praised, yet the second the Czar of America is insulted, stop the press. Seems to me that conservatives are held to a double standard. Just me.

ESPN is at least consistent in their policy. Rush got sent packing also if you remember.

I’ll miss Hank as much as I will the NBA.

It sucks though, I loved hearing the music,,corny as it got sometimes it was part of MNF.. I’m kinda pissed.

Been a big Hank fan for years, seen him a bunch of times. Have about 10 of his albums or whatever they call em these days. But if you watch the video of what he said he seems to have been drinking. A lot of what he said didn’t make any sense, at least not full sense. Watch the actual video and tell me what you think?

I think they made fun of Palins daughter for being an unwed mother. It is her young son that has Downs Syndrome???

I think it’s one of Sarahs kids, not the daughter. Either way……………kids are off limits.

Like his music, but when you are in the position he was in you don’t to say thing like that and have them go unnoticed. I don’t think he really cared about the money/job from ESPN. I am sure he’ll be just fine

Hank Jr. has had his head in the bottle for years.

He has also been talking O’blah blah down for a long time and has left no one questioning were he stands politically. Being a public star he is just heard more than the normal every day go to work guy such as myself and many others that believe our leader is taking America down the flusher. He doesn’t have a thing to apologize about IMO.

He doesn’t need Monday night football, a country boy will survive. I think Hank Jr. will make it without the spineless ESPN

Heck, look what Nike put up with having Tiger Woods

ABC/CNN is owned by Walt Disney productions.

GE used to own NBC now Comcast owns 51% of NBC.
    Just saying.

Continue on with the liberal and obama bashing and complaining as that seems what conservatives can only do, it sure isn’t doing their jobs in Washington.

And being a liberal or conservative has what to do with being a American? Seems to me that if the economy sucks it sucks. Makes no difference what party I am. If I even am anything.

Lets try this……………the economy sucks. If Chris Rock or Linda Lovelace can fix it should I really care?

    Maybe I’m a commie?

Doesn’ matter which party you lean towards neither one cares about the middle guy, one caters towards the towards the wealthy class and the other cares about the welfare class while the rest of us get stuck towing the line

People confuse free speech with the freedom to say what you want without consequences all the time. As long as he isn’t arrested for saying what he said, he had his free speech.

Do some research sir. The wealthiest people in this country tend to lean one direction slightly more than the other and it isn’t the direction you think. Corporations give money to both sides and once again it tends to be slightly more towards the opposite side most people would assume. People solidly in the middle and geographically in the middle of the country tend to favor one side more than the other and once more it isn’t what you have been lead to think. Key word being “lead.”

Oh yeah, we Conservatives own that. You will never see a liberal doing that.

The democrats owned Washington for 2 years. They pushed through Healthcare while ignoring the budget. Then they whined about it when they lost the majority and were forced to deal with the budget because they hadn’t the previous session. They had the nerve to say Republicans were holding America hostage when they created it and wasted more than a year focusing on HC. That’s part of what I would call not doing your job.

By the way, I may not agree with Obama, however calling him Hitler is out of line and unfair to Hitler. #boom

I may not have voted for Obama or agree with all that he has done, but HE IS THE PRESIDENT OF THE US and you insinuating that he is a worse person than Hitler to me is offensive, say what you want and I know it was a joke but I’m gonna voice my opinion on it.

I don’t care which way you lean, as part of the middle class, it sure does feel like I’m taking it up the .

Is anybody in Washington looking out for the people in the middle?

There. I’ve had my free speech for today.

Guys, steer this back to Hank and ESPN or it will be deleted. Not that we all shouldn’t be making politics a priority these days but IDO just isn’t the right platform for the political discussion.

We’re here for the stuff that we all agree one… a love of fishing and the outdoors. Everything else can and will be sorted out elsewhere.

Joel, both sides are watching out for the middle class. Those are the people who vote and pay the taxes in this country. Without the middle class you have no overpaid under performing government.

We should go easy on the elected officials in this country. After all, it’s not easy talking out of both sides of your mouth at once.
