Seriously I shouldn’t even attempt to fish/boat

I swear if it weren’t for bad luck I’d have none. (rant ahead)

So many truck issues, have lead to lack of a decent tow option, cost me countless days on the water (at least now I think I have those sorted for the most part)

Heck half of the time something comes up that doesn’t allow me to get out, started the season missing the quick release bracket for the boat.. The wench post on the front of the trailer got tweaked at some point, couple weeks ago putting the boat on the trailer like I normally do, bent the living daylight out of it, with a gentle push of the boat, freaking unreal how it twisted with that little of effort, cost me a week… Today we finally get on the water, run around a bit decide to fish a bit, and suddenly the trolling motor just stops… No idea why, flipped the breaker a couple times, no power to the TM, starting to get dark, I go up front and stow and deploy the TM a couple times, trying something to just get it to at least turn on again, nothing, so I stow it away fire up the motor and head out back to the landing, suddenly the trolling motor deploys at 50+ mph, and freaking destroys the shaft of the motor it’s splintered, and so bad I couldn’t even get the shaft to go back to the stow position, I’m 100% certain it was stowed correctly, because I did it purposely 3 times before I took off. Luckily I had a quick release on the motor, or I have no idea how you’d get the boat on the trailer again.

Thus far Minn Kota has had outstanding Customer service, this one’s going to be a test, there is no way I did anything wrong stowing the motor. Let alone no idea why is isn’t working, put the boat again, might be it for this year.

I guess I’m just not suppose to fish.

This was me last summer, lucky for me though I had a fairly simple rig to deal with. Things will turn

Sorry to hear that. What trolling motor do you have Nick? I’ve read about that one before. Nice to have met you and your family on Saturday.

Trolling motor auto deploy happened to me once on Mille Lacs in some heavy seas. I was only going about 25 so I managed to get things slowed down while in the air and prevent damage. I stopped at Reeds and picked up a Ram Mount Stabilizer on the way home. No more auto deploy.

X2 on the Ram, had mine deploy just as I got on plane, did stop in time, but I bought the Ram right after that.

Good luck on the repairs and hope all gets better.

For what its worth I had a MinnKota do the same thing on a 1750 Fishhawk. Splintered the shaft and made a mess out of the wiring. Luckily I didn’t lose the powerhead. When I took it into be serviced MinnKota commented “unbreakable is unbreakable” and they didn’t hesitate a split second to repair the unit at no cost to me.

Hopefully you receive the same treatment.

MinnKota is widely known for it’s outstanding customer service.

I’ll be surprised if you come back less than thrilled.

Thanks guys, I was hoping for a sympathetic ear, It’s been one never ending chain of events this year.

I’ve sung the praise of Minn Kota’s service before, so we’ll see, I think I’ll wait a day or two… I just don’t think I can deal with good or bad with the boat right now, I’ll have to hit up the xbox to cool off.

Literally just spend the last almost 2 hours playing with my modem/router calling the cable company, because xbox live said it was fine, then I recheck it, and it says it has issues.

But it just let me log on so I should be ok for the hour I have to play.
