Harness Storage

EyesFishn’s post got me to thinking that i don’t mind tying up harnesses in the off hours, in fact prefer it, but always find myself tying them int he boat…

Because mine always get tangled up, knotted up and generally discombobulated (amazing that that is a word…)

And every storage system I’ve tried to use has not worked, for me.

So, at the risk of showing my ignorance, how do others store their harnesses after tying…

Stu, I take a playing card folded in half approx. 2.5×3.5. Then I cut v-slots in it on all four sides about 3/4 inch deep. Wrap the harness around one way a few times then around the other way. Continue this till you get to the end and anchor the hook in one of the v-slots. Keeps things tidy and compact for me.

Foam pool noodles cut to desired size. Then put slits in it to start your wrap.

I use pool noodles cut to the size of the storage bin theyre going in! I hook the noodle then wrap around and stick a small nail through the loop to keep it on the noodle! Works pretty nice except i fish alot of different lakes so i have many and it takes up alot of extra room!

I take square bar mats, drink coasters, and cut a notch on each corner to except the loop of the leader then rap the leader around the coaster weaving from back to front then hook the hook into the coaster, The rubber like coasters work best. I’ll put 3 or 4 of the same on one coaster then have 6 or 7 coasters of different variety and stick those in a leather zip bag. Doesn’t take up much room and stay clean and separated from the rest of the tackle and easy to access.

I like the size of the of the coasters as the leaders are less likely to retain the coil memory.

Here you go Stu Jon Jordan made a video about tying harnesses and he has a two step formula for storage. Plastic bags and noodles. Anyway check it out, heck maybe I should too since it has been a long time since I saw it.
