I’m come to the realization that I have nearly a decade of fishing magazines piles up in numerous places throughout my house, garage, office….Other than straight tossing them, any useful places they could be donated or anything? Perhaps to benefits something fishing related??

If you have old Field & Streams, I know they are desirebale to some collectors. Depends on age/condition of course. If I were you, I would box up the F & S if I had em and put em in the attic or somewhere out of the way and wait

The only places I can think of are schools and other organizations that would use them to cut pictures out from. It’d be a shame to see that happen to them, and great if there was a kids fishing organization that could make use of them.

If not, I’d try ebaying them, especially if you had complete years from a single magazine. Incomplete lots of 6-8 magazines from assorted early 1990’s time periods are $20. The full deal would command more to some collector, esp. if it were from an old enough vintage.

I agree with the “box’em and bury’em” in an attic or basement or…

Every once in a while I’m sick or bored or in a fishing rut lately, I’ll dig up old issues and seperate that season or that month and look for a new/old idea.

If you have a Veterans Home or hospital near you many times they will take them and I can’t think of a better use for them. As fishermen if we aren’t fishing then reading about it is the next best thing and for many of them that is all they have left.

I do this, too. There are some old techniques and methods that have been forgotten over the years with all of the new technology. If we’ve forgotten about it, there’s a sporting chance the fish have probably forgotten about that presentation, too.

I can never bear to get rid of any old magazines. I keep them in boxes in my shed, and sometimes in the winter when I got nothing else to do, I fire up the wood stove and start reading. Better than watching TV. Actually, I’d like to get some more, I’m always looking for old Fur-Fish-Game magazines.

Another thought might be that many of our men and women in uniform are hunters and fishermen. My club has collected up old magazines several times and shipped them over to Iraq or Afghanistan. We have received many thank you letters from the soldiers. Even though they can’t get fishing in over there, it’s a great escape from their daily turmoil.

I bag mine up and get them to the National Guard and they distribute in packages that go over seas.
