Neutering a dog

I will speak for PHIGS position. In europe 97% of the animals are UN-neutered. And they seem to manage.

In the US the anti breeding crowd got ahold of the vets and showed them how much money they could make by convincing Mom that it was the only responsible thing to do (i.e. population control)

I have NO argument with population control. 95% of animals being bred, shouldn’t be bred.

BUT, when comparing the disease epidemologies of the US vs europe, it’s scary. Europes are natural old age stuff. Ours are man caused.

Go ahead and chop/gut. You gotta keep the wife happy.

BUT, get ready for the $6000 vet bill at 6yoa…

Like the economy, I don’t think we should be looking to Europe for answers.

Now when comparing dog ownership and practices to Europe, you have to keep a couple things in mind.

First of all, dogs are a very big part of the American culture. Second of all, America has the most dogs per family by far over any other country. The closest

In the world, the United States and France have the most pet dogs. Approximately one out of every three families has a pet dog. Switzerland and Germany are the lowest only having one dog per every ten families

Twice the the population of dogs in Brazil, the next nearest country.

Another interesting fact. Mortality by flatulence and related conditions

Definitely research the breed as some are known for medical issues more than others.

For instance Tuffy being a pug has had crystals in his bladder which led to 2 times him needing to be drained. The last time they cut a hole in his weiner behind the (don’t giggle Brian) penis bone and it drained. It healed well, and the doc said we could just leave it and maybe avoid problems in the future. So far, so good and he doesn’t seem to be emasculated with his new V-jayjay, even though I tease him about it.

Wish I wou… Huh Wish I would have known this a bout a year ago. Our Boston had crystals for the 5th time.

Oh yeah. It has been nice on the wallet.

It was a pretty easy decision, especially when you realize the scarring from the operation would probably lead to more frequent blockages in the future. The only thing I really have to watch out for now is a bladder infection, which would not be caused by the new hole, but it is still a possibility.
