The dogs got in the house and drank the water down so far it won’t refill . I’ve snaked it,put water in it and plunged it…..It fills to begin with, then drains to fill just the bottom hole.

Maybe you should eat more roughage.

That should help you filler up!

On a serious note, open the lid and jiggle the plunger rod.

More than likely, the plunger rod, (or whatever they call it)

is not seating properly. A couple jiggles usually fixes it right up again.

They must be some smart dogs to shut the water off too.

Ill second that. In my professional opinion is most toilet issues are cause be poor diet.

Is the refile tube in the overflow tube?

Heres what to do. If the waters running and wants to fill the reservior then its the cap that lays on the top of the exit hole. When you push down on the handle, the handlerod thats connected to the chain, and then its connected to the stopcap. Replace the cap with another one, don’t buy the cheapest because they oxidize too quick and become brittle and begin to leak. Buy another one for a couple bucks more because their made from a more pliable material and seal longer. Its an easy fix just take your time and don’t pull on anything hard, just pull the old cap off its mount, via fingers, and replace. This should solve your problem, I’ve fixed dozens of them.
