I have spent 4 days recently fishing for bass. I fished pads and some slop. For a rod I used a St Croix extreme which showed great sensitivity coupled with Power Pro 30# with a 5″ rubber worm rigged weightless. However if you replace the power pro with nano fill 12# the transmission of movement on the lure end diminishes. The casting distance is unbelievable. Has anybody that has used it experienced the same or have different?

I used 2lb nano last weekend panfishing. I could cast further and seem to be real tough. I’m buying more of it i know that!

Well, what I thought was going to be the cat’s meow is starting make me wonder if it may be more like the dog’s bite! Not sure exactly what to say here but I have now fished the 4, 8 and 12 pound. The 12 for me was just to stiff for throwing finesse worms. I still think it may be a good crankbait line. I like the castability of the 8 and 4 but my big concern is break offs! I have been tying the Nano or double palomar knot as suggested. When it breaks, and it often does, it is usually at the knot. Fishing crappies and yellow bass last night. I probably caught 30 fish with the 4 pound on a 5 foot IMX Loomis with a Shimano 1000 Stradic MG set with a light drag. I must of had 5 break offs after I got the fish in the boat. I would go to grab the fish and the 1/32nd oz jig would break off the line at the knot. The one thing I didn’t do was peel of 6 or so feet and retie higher up the line but I have been noticing this problem for awhile and last night made me wonder why I was using it when I know there is lines out there that don’t break like the Nano does. Then, I remembered how much I enjoy casting the stuff! No, it’s not the cat’s meow! Back to the drawing board Berkley! PS. I am truly one of Berkleys biggest fans but, like everything else, Nano has its limitations I guess. Anyone else have similar experience

I have been using it since the day it hit the shelf. First of all it is ONLY a spinning line. So if you are fishing it in pads with frogs you might be asking for trouble. I have used power pro for over 10 years always using a uni knot to attach Power pro to 12lb Seaguar Fluoro.
I am using the same set up with 10 lb Nano Fil. I have increased the twists to 7 on the uni knots. Still using Palomar with the Flouro.
I fish primarily smallmouth. Since I started using Nano fill I have caught some huge smallies a few at or just above 7lbs, lots of 4-5 and a couple 6lbs. Many many between 12-17″. A few Tiger muskies and a bunch of walleye.
That said I have nothing but good things to say about this line. I am not one to change what I am confident in. Thanks to the Thorne Bros groupon deal I decided to try Nano fil. I never thought I would change from Power pro but the lack of buzz saw noise as Nano Fill goes through the guides was the first thing I appreciated about Nano FIl. Second was casting distance. Since, I have come to appreciate its durability and strength.

Some say it is not do well with abrasion. Well I have dragged it through rocks (round in Mille Lacs & nasty river rock) and zebra muscles and have yet to have a complaint.
I now have 5 rods with 10 lb Nanofil. I am backing my spools and using half a 150yd nano fi spool per rod.

I had to read the instructions again and by golly it is a spinning line. I used the 12# and found that tossing a 5inch worm rigged on a 3/0 hook weightless I had no break offs even at distances unnecessary for pad fishing. I will be adding another reel with the same weight and rig it with a variety of ultra small lures to see if they are castible with the same rig I used for the bass fishing. I used a polymar knot and I don’t believe I had a break off with a fish on. although you did catch some very outstanding fish. If you were not fishing in pads and slop or any bothersome structure you really don’t need the cost of this line. The largest lm I boated was 2 1/2.The real success in fishing in pods and slop falls in the use of the correct equipment like a “frog rod”. high speed reel, and a practice timing of the correct time to strike back. I never shy away from a diffcult fishing situation even if I do not have the exact fishing rod in my boat. I never blame equipment for operator error. I will get back to you tomorow
