Ordered a line counter reel on line and got free shipping, Everything went smooth. Found the same reel on sale at the store, so I called the 800 number on my online receipt and told her that I saw the reel on sale and wanted a credit for the $15 price difference. The lady begain to tell me that she could not do this because the store and the online store are different inventories even tho the store carried the same reel. So if I want to pay shipping to return the reel and go buy it at the store to get the sale price. What a joke.

Anyone used the online store? There prices are all over the place compaired to the store prices.

You should know better than that. Gander as a whole is a joke. I never go there unless it’s a last minute option or I know they have what I need and nobody else has it.

I find the gander mtn online a whole hell of a lot better than the store. Why pay $8 to return it, then turn around and get the one from the store to save $7 (if they still have any by the time you get your money back)? Just forget it and enjoy your new reel.

You also need to remember if the reel gets lost when sending it back, you are out the money you payed… they cant prove you shipped the reel back unless they get it. Too risky to save $7 IMO

It’s easy to buy sounds like you didn’t “shop” until after the fact. When I “buy” something… I figure I bought it & own it. Maybe I am a sucker, but I sure don’t want to get bent up about my own mistakes….

I don’t think it is real uncommon to see a brick and mortor store offer different on-line pricing. Best Buy is a good example.

I’m with you Brian! Mills has a great selection of fishing gear!

Might want to give these guys a try next time at their on line store.

Yep. A good example is Verizon online compared to the stores phone prices and discounts that can be applied.

They do the same thing as Gander, they won’t match store and online pricing either.

I just wanted to share my positive experience with the Rochester Gander Mountain, since most of what I read on IDO is negative. I usually shop around for the best deal when purchasing a larger/higher priced item. Listed are a few of the “deals” I have got in the last year from Gander Mountain.

Last week I purchased a tent. I found the tent cheaper at a online competitor and they price matched the competitor.

I purchased a lazer mag solo auger late last winter. I shopped around for the best deal and found a 10 inch model at a big box store competitor. I wanted the 8 inch model. So I called Gander Mountain in Rochester and asked them what they had. They had one 8 inch left and they offered it to me at a discount price and held it for me until I could get there a couple hours later.

Last fall I purchased a gun after shopping around. Price was 15% cheaper than all the other places I looked.

Have you tried taking the reel into the store with your online receipt and ask to price match it? I know other stores do this.

I’ve always had good experiences when I go to the store. We always hear more about negative experiences. Personally I purchase some tackle and such from Fleet Farm but my go to store is Thorne Bros. They will match or beet any price and will really take care of you.

I build all my tackle myself.

Anyone interested in one of my creations?

Brian, Sudden Impact works great with these.
