I’m thinking I should have a snowblower for the sidewalks by my business.

Would like to maybe support Toro as a Minnesota company. Any comments on pro’s or cons. Any reason to consider somebody else?

    Thanks.

Given your explanation I see no reason to look elsewhere. They make a high quality product. I dont have one but if I owned a business here I wouldnt want to be seen with anything else. I say good call!

Ariens is another great machine. They are built right across the river. I’ve got two and they never let me down.

Are chains necessary? I have them on my lawn tractor but I honestly couldn’t tell you if I need them.

I’ve got a Toro mower and Ariens blower. Both are top-notch. I used my grandma’s Toro blower for many years growing up, and it was a solid machine, too (still is, I think).

I am looking for a snowblower also. I looked at toro & simplicity. The Toro is higher priced with fewer options than the simplicity.

Don’t forget to compare the different gauges of metal used on the frame/body. When I was shopping, I was very surprised to see how big of a variance then can be.

It takes a lot of hot air to melt snow though. I could have had a better come back, but I didn’t want to go there.

I bought the Troy-Built Storm 2410 from Lowes 2 years ago. Not a bad little unit for a decent price. It’s not the same quality machine that you are looking at but it’s handled everything I’ve thrown at it in the Rochester area for the last 2 winters without any problems. I can’t say I’ve wanted a larger unit yet either.

My aunt has a Cub Cadet which I run all the time to clean her drive and side walk. She’s 84. Works real good even in heavy wet slushy snow.

I have a Toro Lawn Tractor & Ariens Snowblower,
Both top quality, 5years & 8 years old respectively.
No problems with either one. Other than those maybe check John Deere.

Watch the hand grips and control levels. Many brands have the control (3/8″ or 7/16″) bar you pull up with your fingers leaving you with sore fingers after running for a while. My Ariens has the control level you hold down, very easy on the hands, especially when the FW has to run it, even has electric start.

Only other advice is buy from a Lawn & Garden shop where they service what they sell and aren’t selling left overs/close-outs, etc. i.e.: DO NOT Buy from Home Depot, Lowe’s, Menards, etc.

My Ariens just keeps running, still looks new, even leaving Fuel in it all summer, starts on 1st or 2nd pull.

My dad’s got a Simplicity from the 70’s. That thing is a tank.

Own both a Toro snowblower and a Toro lawnmower. Both are top notch. After owing 2 Toro’s, I won’t buy anything else. Problem free and perform great. Before the Toro I owned a cheaper brand (can’t think of it right now, but it’s pretty popular) and the Toro is worth the extra money and then some. After summer storage, 1 pull and off I go. Good luck.

Although I don’t own one (hand power / neighbor’s machine) I grew up using my grandfathers Toro that was handed down to my dad. My dad remembers using that when he was in is teens and he is now 62 years young. 2nd pull everytime.

The only thing I don’t like about the new Toros is the plastic chute. My Ariens has a steel chute, and that seems like a much better idea to me.

I have a Troybuilt and love it, I bought the Storm 9528 a few years back. It is a beast, it easily chewed through the HUGE piles at the end of my driveway from the plow this winter. The only problem I have with it….I end up helping my neighbors with their driveways when I am done with mine. I have great neighbors though, so I don’t mind.
As for Toro…I have both a push and a rider mower and absolutely love them both so I would say you probably can’t go wrong with Toro but it will cost you a few extra bucks over some other brands.

Well, my cheap-a$$ MTD has been doing the job for 13 years without a problem….I think any brand will be fine as long as it’s taken care of….

Thanks for the input guys. I will see what I can find / afford with Toro being the first choice.
