I get a letter in the mail from the Ford company. Seems there’s been a recall on my Ford F-150 pick up. There’s a wire around the steering column that if rubbed through the insulation, the drivers air bag deploys.
My FW has been after me for months to have this corrected, but with my schedule, it’s hard to find a half day to have this done as the letter instructed.
So, I send an email to Hudson Ford explaining my hours and asking for suggestions.
IDO’s own Todd Miller responds by saying “BK, bring it in after work. We’ll have you back on the road in 1/2 hour. Can’t keep a catman down now can we?”
Yesterday after work I drive in. Told whoever was behind the service counter what I needed, gave him my keys and went to the waiting area.
In less than a half hour, Todd himself came out to talk to me. Turned into a fishing conversation of course, then he said he would be right back, they were just finishing up.
When he handed me my keys, he said my windshield wiper broke when they were washing it. First off, I didn’t see anything in the recall letter that said I was going to get a car wash. Secondly, that wiper blade was bad and I was planning on replacing it soon. Just forget about it when it’s not raining.
Great I thought, but now I’m going to pay through the nose for a wiper blade from a dealer.
When I get the bill, there wasn’t any charge. Couldn’t believe it!
I said my goodbyes and went out to the washed and wiped down truck. In the cab I found a note.
“Your account has been credited for one free oil change.”
Todd, you guys make it hard not to come back!
Thank you!
