I was just sittin around this morning and i thought of what i think is a great idea. Why doesn’t IDO host a bass, walleye, and catfish(just for BK) tourney every year so that we can all meet each other! I think it would be a great event and it would give us all a chance to meet up. Anyone else like this idea?

Years ago when the site was smaller we use to have a get together along with the tournaments you mentioned. As the site grew and everyones commitments grew it kind of fell by the wayside along with the ARM event. It was a great way to meet everyone and a heck of a fun time but all things change and rarely for the better. It will be interesting what kind of response you get from the young pups with your question and if you get one going—as long as it is on Pool 4—-I might even wander in and check it out.

Even if there is a lot of us there are still plenty of large lakes/rivers around this wonderful state. We could have boaters and nonboater and meet tons of people. I think it would be good. It would give some of the sponsors of the site a way to show us what they have too.

With a little lead time to work into schedules, I’m sure there would be many folks that would love to meet others from IDO face to face.

The first step in making something like this happen is finding someone that’s willing (has the time) to put it together. Second is a location and last is the date.

Suzuki and Cougereye have been setting up a St Croix Opener get2gether for 5-6 years now.

There are tourneies that IDO’ers meet at such as the Saugerama, The Menomin/Tainter Walleye League, The St.Croix Valley Walleye League, Freeze Your Butt, Donaldson Open Invittaional (a multispecie good fun tourney) also at GTG’s and I’m sure there are others I have not mentioned.

Any thoughts on a fall sturgeon get together on the croix? I havent fished them yet on the croix so not sure how this would work out but the spring trip to the rainy river sure is fun.

    Exaclty.

Many times one can put one of these on by simply setting it up.

I have done these on another site years ago and they are fun and one does meet many people and can have a fun day of fishing ta boot.

Many times the first year they may not be all that well attended but after a few years, it can be a huge event.

They can work well for either open water or ice fishing.

Heck, I would even attend that one. I have fished the Rainy many times for those sturg but not the croix.

I am not sure what location would be good for all fall sturg get together but I would be more than happy to help another out to put this on.

    Really not that much work.

If someone is interested in doing this with me, shoot me an e-mail and we can go from there. All I would have to do is get a date worked into my time frame.

    You got me there BK.

I am as tired as retired. Might just be from too much playing around fishing and hunting. This time of the year in the fall can get hectic.

Not as easy as it would appear to be. I know BK, you feel real sorry for me and my issues with to much to do.

I would consider going back to work if the pay was right and I could work when I felt like it.

Maybe a position like your’s BK!!

What’s that saying? What goes around comes around.

    Back on track again…

A few years back, Hanson and a group of Sturgeonairs met for breakfast at the Bungalow. After that we hit the Croix hard. I have this cool photo taken from my boat of Fish Head watching a 50+ inch sturgeon coming out of the water.

Even though the photo was taken from a long distance, you could lip read the one word coming out of Dennis’ mouth.

Unfortunately the website sensor won’t allow me to post it.

I’d like to see a couple more get togethers in this area. There have been plenty of events just started by someone making a suggestion, I believe.

For the ST Croix Sturgeon, I think figuring out a park or some place where boats can be beached and do a little grilling. Out on the water you could maybe spread the group out until a good pod of sturgeon willing to bite were found and then get the regada to that spot.

And BK. No pictures = it didn’t happen.

With Sturgeon fishing occurring largely in the evening or early morning (for me anyway), we could do a cookout in the lakefront park in Hudson around 5 pm some Friday,Saturday, or Sunday night upcoming and then head out for the evening bite on the Croix.

I’ll volunteer to bring a grill and brats down to the park if someone else wants to get this thing going!!

I think a poll needs to be started for a date. I volunteer Brian to start said poll.

I would be more than happy to line this all up once BK has a date.

I do not know at this time if I can make it as we do not know what date yet but I would be more than happy to get it going.

I’m not dating either of you guys…no matter what kind of pole Pug has.

I think it’s important that the people in charge of putting this together should be there, so I’ll leave picking the date up to Pug.

Got that right BK, no dating even if you do smell like fish.

If you find a date and it works for me pug, I would be more than happy to help you if you need any help or do whatever as far as that goes.

I am afraid of commitment, that’s why no one will date me.

I can start a thread asking people for what date works best for them and give the details. The deal is I make no guarantees I can make the event myself.

I am sure people will assume that me making the thread means I will make an appearance. That will bring out throngs of people from across this great country and if I don’t show up, you may have rioting.
