Photo Enlargement/Enhancement?

Anybody really good at enlarging/enhancing digital photos?

I was walking out to change the card in my trail cam when I saw something laying out in the sun on the edge of the trail that I was using about 175 yards away. I took out my phone, zoomed in as far as I could and took a pic. I was able to close the gap to about a 100-125 yards and took another pic. When I got to 75-80 yards, the “animal” noticed me and took off. The pics I was able to get aren’t that great of quality due to the phone. I’d sure like better pics to substantiate what I saw. Any suggestions?

There is quite a bit of information, on late night TV, about enlargement and enhancement.

A pixel is a pixel, no matter how big you make it. This ain’t CSI, this is the real world.

Sorry, didn’t mean to be “mysterious.” It sure looked to be a bobcat to me, but it was a very large bobcat if that is what it was.

The way that title sits under today’s topic, this was the direction at first “blush”.

Unfortunately, with this pic, a pixel is definitely a pixel. There wasn’t anything I could do with it. Sorry, but the detail is just not there.

That is what I was afraid of. I may have to just bring a real camera with me from now on.

Well, if anybody else wants to take a stab at it, you are more than welcome. Here are the pics that I took if anybody is interested. In the center of the pics near the right side of the trail is a cat that is sunning itself. I believe it was a large bobcat, but not sure. I’ve seen a bobcat in that area twice last deer season, but there have been a couple sightings of a mountain lion the past couple of years.

Suggestion for next time should you come across this again, DO NOT use the zoom on your phone. It’s a dirty little feature that will actually destroy the quality of the photo. ( WHY Digital zoom is still around I have NO idea) I know it sounds crazy, but more could possibly be done with a picture that does not use digital zoom than one that does. Just something to keep in mind.
