Super Bowl vs National champion

Only one time in your life the stars line up perfectly. Would you rather see the Gophers be National Champions in football or the Vikings win the Super Bowl?

Reason I ask is I’m reading about how hard the Gopher coaches and players are working. This with zero chance of winning the National title. Makes you wonder just what it would mean to the state and program to have that degree of success.

Vikings? Well personally it would be nice to see them win. But I think the backwash of the contract holdouts and the other things that go with a Super Bowl win would make me lean towards the Gophers.

    What do you guys think?

(Minnesota question……….you Wisconsin guys stay out. )

I think it would be far greater to see the Gophers as national football champs. But as you said, the chances of that happening are far worse than the Vikings winning it all.
In the NFL, if you draft right, and make a few right moves, you can get to the bowl. Heck, we were 1 penalty from going two years ago.
For the Gophers to be in National Championship contention, that’s a mind boggling set of circumstances that will NEVER happen. I’d settle for them to make the Rose Bowl once every 10 years like WI and IA.

    Go Vikes!!

The next day I’d be the guy in the office going……”Those games were last night? No wonder there was nobody out on the ice.”

Good question. I think you will find the answers somewhat mixed. Personally, I love the NFL and everything about it. The Vikings happen to be in the NFL and in my home state so for me It’s Vikings hands down.

The Goofs will never have a bigtime program UNLESS they get a bigtime coach. They have no tradition & it’s cold as H*ll up here in the winter. What stud kid from FL, CA, TX or anywhere would want to come up here for?

Sorry for the tangent. To answer your question for real though, IF the NCAA had a playoff system it would be much easier to follow college FB.

I mean, what’s the point of rooting for a champion when you REALLY DONT KNOW if they’re the best?????

i think you guys are going to like that Kill character. going to take a couple of years but he’s a good one. national championship? doubt it. i think my badgers may never compete for that and they’ve got a great program. OSU was the best we had and they have been blown out in the last couple BCS games.

Perhaps you should aim a little lower with the Gophers…Conference Champion, Division Champion, heck even a winning record.

It just got tougher this year (Go Big Red!)

I’m torn on this one but I can tell you one thing, I bet the Gopher Football Program is more deserving.

How many of those kids showed up to camp 50lbs overweight?

How many got into trouble over the offseason to see their careers pick up right where they left off?

How many transfered to a different program for more money?

    Just something to think about…

I can’t believe someone would put this ball on a tee in front of me. The only way either is going to win either is if there were only these two teams and they played each other…

Being they are both from Minnesota, that means that they have 0 % chance of ever doing either

    Gophers Gophers Gophers!

Generally, I hate pro sports except hockey. Pro football is a joke and the Vikings organization is too. My parents helped me figure that out a long time ago and I’ve been a Patriots fan ever since. Hopefully I’ll be wearing my Bledsoe jersey watching the Patriots in the Super Bowl this year.

I would like to see the gophers do well, but my choice would be to see the vikings win the super bowl.

Seeing as though the Rodents have already won the National Championship, I would rather see them win another one.

I hope the Vikings NEVER EVER EVER win the Super Bowl.

The Gophers will never win a National Championship. The problem is they’re not one of the “big name” programs. If the 2011 Gophers have an undefeated season they might not even make top 20. Ask Boise State, TCU or a lot of other schools how this works. The Gophers would basically have to go undefeated for several years before they would have a crack at top 10, and even then they would end up below #2 in the BCS rankings, with no shot at the National Championship game. The Vikings could get lucky one year and make a run throught the play offs. The Gophers might as well give up.

Both teams should strive for a 500 season and be happy if that occurs………

If you build the Vikings a new stadium, they will get better just like the Gophers did with their new stadium.
