I don’t mind women having lower back tattoos, but I hate them on the legs and feet. I am a leg guy and that just ruins it for me.

Michelle also has a Tweety Bird and it is right above her ankle.

Sure is generational. When I got mine only military guys and bikers had tatts.

“Yes that screamin’ eagle and skull tattoo’s are from my military days”. “no, I don’t want to see your butterfly”.

wow, I’ve met some pretty awesome folks that are covered in ink. Too bad most of us are taught to judge a book by its cover.

IMO it’s very hard to make a pretty gal less pretty. Some ink just tells me that she might have a mind of her own.

Alright, I confess I have one tattoo. I got it in prison. It wasn’t my idea.

Looking down your nose at others posts all the time, is also not very open minded…

I wasn’t passing judgement so much as I was wondering why. Whether a pretty girl with ink has a mind of her own…….I guess I would question if she has a mind. I am speaking of neck, full sleeve, full back types of tattoos.

If they want a little tat someplace so be it.

But, to each their own after all it is a free country. Just as it’s free if I decide not to hire somebody based on appearance from tats or piercings.

You all who won’t hire just because of a tat want to mention your company, I’d like the opportunity to not do business with you should the chance ever present it’s self.

I’d like to tell my tattooed best friend too, but he got killed in Nam, so I guess it wouldn’t make much difference to him.

Allen, be honest with yourself…. would you hire this guy to represent your company ??? Tattooed and getting a tattoo are 2 different things….. plenty died in nam without tattoos too, you shouldn’t play that card so loosely… yes I am a vet too….

I don’t like tattoos, but as stated in a previous post, it hasn’t stopped me from dating people with them or associating with people with tats.

    No, that isn’t a typo.

As for ear plugs and what not, that hasn’t hindered my relationships with people either. Still, every time I see them my first thought is, “What the hell”.

As for doing business with them. It wouldn’t hinder that either, but they have to know that is going to be the first hurdle in the sense if I meet with a well dressed person, they made a good first impression. If I meet a person with tats all over and ear plugs, well you have to expect when you do that, it is the first thing I will judge you on.

    You old farts are funny.

Humans have been getting tatooed and peirced for a long time. A really long time. A really really really long time. A “before Jesus” long time. A new trend? c’mon

my daughter asked me what tattoos were. my response was “usually the result of a poor decision”

i say do what you want. but its not original anymore. almost every person over 50 i know with tattoos completely regrets them.

got a tattoo on your back? “i did it for me” no. you didn’t.

i’d probably have a few had i more cash on hand in college….luckily other uses for that money came around.

there are very few that i see and i’m like, thats cool. most are pretty stupid. i just turned 30

I probably would have had a tattoo at some point in time. But thankfully I have commitment issues.

With unemployment above 9%. Why would someone do something like get/show off obnoxious tats to set them apart? Let’s be honest, tats carry a negative stigma. Handicapping yourself in a head to head competition for employment won’t turn out well.

My people (professionally dressed in suits) meet with corporate clients or potential investors (also professionally dressed in suits). They are expected to look the part. Tattoos poking out of the sleeves or collar, gauged ears, etc just don’t cut it in my world.

However as a younger single man. Locating a “doe in heat” was much easier when the “tramp stamp” was prominently displayed.

Still not hearing any company names???????

Honest?…ok would I hire a person who has excessive tats to deal with the corp world or rednecks?
No…but I wouldn’t hire the pointing hair new hair style person either, or the overly made up person, guy or gal, or somebody that looked like hooking was their former profession and they’re keeping the look, etc.

Excessiveness in almost anything could keep a person from certain jobs, no doubt, but to say you wouldn’t hire someone because of a tat reeks of banjo playing and scenes from deliverance.

People died in wars with out tats too…un huh..brillant as usual g.

You are correct sir. This conversation is about tats, so that’s what is mentioned.

To your point…………..My people need to look the part. So that means no tats, no excessive ear pieces, must be clean shaven, must be well groomed, must have appropriate attire.

So it’s about overall appearance, not just tats.

Allen my guess for companies not hiring people with excessive tattoos would be most major retailers, grocery stores, fast food places, service providers, HomeTown Plumbing and most likely the local gas company to. Not a chance in heck Im going to send some painted freak representing my company into old misses Johnsons house hoping she has a open mind and will just understand. You cant tell me Allen that your company does not take tats into consideration when hiring service people to. Wouldnt be surprised if they have a policy that all tats need to be covered in the work place.

Your the one who played the deceased Nam vets are being discriminated against by people here….. pretty sick as usual…

I would have a problem with a business that says they wouldn’t discriminate against over bearing displayed tattoos on a potential employee… that’s the dishonest one. This thread was about BIG gaudy tattoos. Don’t turn it into a butterflied ankle hating post…

Allen, why do your service people have uniforms?

    1) to project a professional image?

    2) Guys are to lazy to wash and press their own cloths?

As you generally do you have tried to steer the thread elsewhere.

My sales people won’t have OBNOXIOUS tats displayed. My sale people won’t have torn dirty ragged cloths on. My sale people won’t swear at you if you ask a question. My sales people won’t have a gun strapped to their waist when you meet them.

    It’s called professionalism.

BTW, since you are dying to know.

OKAY, the cleanshaven part qualified as “now you’ve gone too far” . . . but that “not packin’ part” just crossed the line
