Going to White Iron Lake by Ely 8/19-8/22. Wondering if anyone has been there and could offer info on things to do. Two couples going to just relax. Not bringing a boat but may rent one for a day or two. any neat things to see. Thanks

Was just up there a couple weekends ago, it is beautiful up there.
Only scratched together a couple walleyes but I didn’t get much fishin in since it was a family get away.

If you rent a boat make sure you are aware of the HP restriction and canoe only areas, there are both on that chain of lakes that include White Iron, Farm and Garden.

If you do fish…look for wind blown rocky shore lines 8-17′ of water…the windier the shallower you want to fish.

White Iron is part of the the Kiwishwi River system. We have had good luck there in the past. Its a good Walleye/Pike fishery and usually has special regs in place the last several years. Things of interest in the area would be Wolf Center in Ely,Soudan Mine/Park near Soudan, shopping in Ely,day trips to BWCA.

Stayed on one of those lakes next to White Iron last fall. I think Farm. Locals said tough year for fish last year but in years past known for good eye fishing including biguns. I grouse hunted nearby and spent a fair amount of time in Ely. Planning the same trip with my wife again this fall.

    Oh yeah…forgot to mention that.
Walleyes 17″ – 26″ must go back immediately
There are also regs for pike but I wasn’t planning on keeping any so I didn’t pay that close of attention.
