Most years we have to kill them from our Hibiscus plants. This year they are about to kill one of my smaller trees and the neighbors birch. They are also infesting the ivy on the garage. So bad that when I sprayed them with an insect repellent attached to the hose, they swarmed out of there. The repellent doesn’t kill them, but it does render them immobile long enough to starve or bake in the sun…I hope.
I need to get a beetle bag, but they are flying off the shelf. I’ll post pictures as soon as one fills up. Although I just read the bag may hurt more than help because they attract more from further away who feed a lot by the time they get trapped.
Apparently like June bugs, they are currently in the adult life cycle and will start dieing off soon. And I tell you what, they make the most of their adult life. Peak into any part of the ivy and it is literally a beetle orgy (Yes, I opened a door there).
I know they are bad all over, so I am wondering who else is being “bugged” by these monkeybutts.
