Billionaires fighting with millionaires for a bigger piece of the pie. All of this while most people are lucky to see any raise at all and others are loosing their jobs over work outsourceing. Nope I guess I really don’t care. Don’t get me wrong. I like to sit around and have a cold one during a game from time to time. But when I see athletes getting paid Millions of $ just because they run faster or jump higher while Doctors are getting paid far less saving peoples lives – I just can’t feel sorry about their money issue’s

I have to agree. I like to watch a game, but if I can go fishing instead…
July 25, 2011 at 8:14 pm #983694That running faster, jumping higher, etc argument will never make sense to me. They’re blessed with a much higher ability athletically and make tons of $$ for their employers.
Should I be pissed because I wasn’t blessed with the brain and hands of a Neurosurgeon and he makes way more money than I do? No, I play the cards I’ve been dealt and do my best. I’m not defending pro sports players,,simply providing a comparison for ya.

I never said I was or YOU should be pissed – Just said I don’t care. I just do not happen to believe they should be paid what they are based on what value they provide. But as long as people are willing to pay $100.00 a seat or sit thru Hr’s of commercials each Sun. while watching a game they will continue to be paid the $ they are. I’m just not one willing to do so if there are other things I can be doing.
July 25, 2011 at 8:39 pm #983706You asked if any one cares? I don’t thats why I fish and and there is NASCAR for those of us that think that pro team or player needs to make money than most 3rd world countries make in a couple years because people want to see them play….
July 25, 2011 at 8:44 pm #983708I’m so sick of the NFL their brutish monopoly, I was really hoping there would be no season this year.
Their little tricks like blackouts, controlling TV programming, and throwing a lawsuit at every person who gathers more than 3 people at their house to watch the (god forbid I actually say the word)SUPERBOWL are nothing short of mafia-like thuggery.
I’m also sick and tired of hearing everyone blab about the NFL year round. The season isn’t even over for a week and people are already running around yapping about draft picks and crap. Give it a rest.

Ya, We all know that Nascar owners and drivers are all living off food stamps. I think on average they are paid as much or more than football players. Dale Earnhardt Jr. earnings in 2009 was 35 Million $. Thats $830 for each left turn that he made that year. And that is for a year that he only won 1 race.
July 25, 2011 at 9:14 pm #983721Sorry FishThumper I’m not pissed. I just don’t like that argument..Mostly because it’s my mother-in-law that alwasy makes it.
arklite881southPosts: 5660July 25, 2011 at 10:39 pm #983747I too am so sick of ALL the crap both sides and the Media surrounding them pull for ALL so called Pro-SPORTS.
I rarely sit through any games on the Tube, no matter the sport. Many of the players act like fricking crying babies or complete jerks, lest anyone forget the Lake Minnetonka Boating incident, Brett Favre’s media incidents or the many other run ins with the law over the years. Yes, there are exceptional players like Killebrew, but overall the most coverage is afforded to all the off-field crap they pull that puts them all in the stupid category.
I too would rather spend my time in the Woods or on the Water or with FAMILY. I want my Grandchildren to consider their Parents and Grandparents their HERO’s.
just my Two-cents
July 25, 2011 at 11:31 pm #983763But it’s funny you don’t hear NASCAR owners and drivers demanding millions and billions to drive or they are going to stop racing. Other pro sports should be taking lessons from NASCAR and just play the game….

What was locked out?
It’s when the gates open silly and you can drive your boat again!
July 26, 2011 at 3:27 am #983820I fish in the fall, I start watching football when it’s just about over…on Mondays…unless there’s ice.

trust me it happens. but nascar drivers aren’t a part of a union. so there isn’t the huge chance of a lockout/strike. all those negotiations go on for the most part out of the public eye because of this. the owners and “athletes” are just as greedy as the rest of sports. which is why drivers switch owners all the time.
thinking anything else is pure ignorance.

Now we can get back to Roasting “PACKER NATION'”

Everything’s for sale. And I’d be willing somebody would give us a Hershel Walker (kinda) type deal for AP.
July 26, 2011 at 3:17 pm #983894The Vikings are going to start a rookie quarterback. Good luck to you my western friends. It would take an AP trade to save you.
July 26, 2011 at 3:48 pm #983899I here Brett (see my willie pics) might play for the Eagles.
Would that make it a Phillie Willie?July 26, 2011 at 4:46 pm #983907Quote:

I guess the Eagles need a good decision making athletic QB
July 27, 2011 at 1:13 am #984011As the NFL season is reinstated, Michael Vick has tweeted that he would love to have 20-year veteran Brett Favre join him on the Philadelphia Eagles.

NFL Free Agency to Begin, Lockout is Finally Over After Four and a Half Month Work-Stop“I would be honored to have Brett Favre as a backup,” tweeted Vick, the first African-American picked as overall draft pick in the NFL. “That will be amazing learning how to toy with defenses the way he did his whole career.”Although Vick deleted his tweets, the messages caused a number of sports analysts and fans to speculate about Favre’s next move.
Jeff McLane, a reporter from Philly.com, said any rumors about Favre’s move to Philly are far-fetched. According to McLane “a lot of things would need to fall into place” for Favre to put on an Eagle uniform.
However, some believe it is possible for the 41-year-old Favre to return for his 21st season.
Howard Eskin, a Philadelphia sports personality for WIP-AM 610, spoke to NBC 10 this weekend about the possibility.
hndPosts: 1577July 27, 2011 at 1:59 pm #984134i can’t imagine favre wants to sit on a bench. there are too many teams that need a starting qb for that to happen i believe.
however, vicks legs are an injury liability. so he has a better shot of inheriting a starting spot there.
very interested and excited to see what vick can do this year.

I agree he won’t sit. BUT, you may see him get picked up by a team that loses their starter and has a turd for a back-up. Personally, I’d kinda like to see it happen.
