Looking for a place to save bookmarks other than on my computer, are there any websites out there that offer a place where you can save bookmarks so you can log in and look them up from any computer?

I’ve never looked into a site but if you use Firefox you can set up the Sync feature to save whatever browser history, bookmarks, cookies you want to be saved on their server so that any computer you use and set up apporpriately will have your information. It is a newer feature for Firefox so depending upon your current version you may need to upgrade it to find the feature.

Bookmarks are stored in a simple file, which file depends on which browser you use. You could just put that file on a CD.

I saved my bookmarks as an HTML file. If you use Firefox, the instructions are different for each version of the browser you use. In my 5.0 version it is Bookmarks/Show all Bookmarks/Import and Backup. You can then email them as attachment to a Yahoo or Gmail account and store the email in a folder you create for saved emails. Some ISP’s also give you free storage space.

You guys are right about backing up your bookmarks, an HTML file can be used by all browsers.

I understand him wanting to be able to access them online and not just back them up. With Firefox Sync if you use two computers through a week all of your viewed pages and information are maintained and it appears as though you were on one device the entire time. Little bit different than simply backing them up. Sync keeps a single source history of your browsing. Therefore if you buy a new device and enter your account number all your bookmarks are immediately imported without the extra file.

There is free program called Xmarks that will do that. The web site is http://www.xmarks.com/

It works great and even works across different browsers.
