Today will be a day I never forget, it has changed my life and how I look at myself and others.
The young man that drowned in Indiana and went to Roseville High School was my God son. His parents laid him to rest today.
I was there to witness something I wouldnt wish on anyone. To see my dear friend Karen crying and holding the casket that contained her son was more than I could bare. It was a scene I will remember for the rest of my life. Sean was a great athlete, but even more he was a great person off the field as well.
Some of the Purdue football team came to remember Sean, including head coach. Those men really miss him. I believe they will have a terrific season this year. They are fired up to dedicate this season to there teammate Sean.
My eyes are watering and I cant type any more. Please Pray for this family they really need it.

There’s a wonderful book that helped me (and my parents) immeasurably after the loss of my 21 year old brother. The suggestion of a book will probably seem a little trite right now but once the shock subsides and the healing begins, I really recommend it. It’s called “Lament for a Son” by Nicholas Wolterstorff.

    So sorry for your loss.

My sympathies to you and your friends.

I buried my 18 year old son a year and a half ago after he was struck by a car and killed. Like your God son, he was a great kid with a tremendously bright future. It’s been an interesting ride for my family since then. My wife and I have been very involved in some grief groups and now help to lead one.

If you or your friends ever need to vent or talk to someone who has been there, please don’t hesitate to contact me. Shoot me a PM or something and I’ll gladly share my phone number, email, etc. The biggest help we found came from the realization that others had gone through this and that what I was feeling was normal. Your friends are in for a long haul, but having good people to surround them will help on their journey.

To all of those who have lost someone close, especially a child before their time, my sympathies and thoughts go out to you. I simply cannot imagine or begin to comprehend how it would feel, and it’s probably the biggest fear I’ll ever have.

    Follmerpa,

Thank you for sharing, hope it helps in your grieving process.

My wife and I are from Indiana and we both graduated from Purdue in May 2001 and are avid Purdue football fans due to being there during the entire Drew Brees era. It broke our hearts when we read about this tragedy.

Hearts go out to the family, his Boilermaker team mates and Coach Danny Hope.

    As you stated, BOILER UP!
